What advice can you give to the invisible nobodies in the tf2 fandom who cant contribute writings and pictures, but support others yet are alone and feel worthless? The same people who reblog and leave encouraging words to their "friends" only to be completely ignored once their words are received? The people who have not a single follower who asks them how they are doing because they are not popular/a contributor to the fandom? We're always forgotten. We need support others and yet get nothing.
Hoo boy. This is a touchy subject, as in Iām really afraid of saying the wrong thing here, because itās coming from one viewpoint. The viewpoint of a minor contributor. So everything I say is what Iām thinking right now, in the moment, and is not meant to reflect anything larger, and Iām sorry if I offend anyone/everyone with this.
I write for the fandom. Occasionally, and itās small-scale stuff that doesnāt get big attention like some people I can but will not name. And I can say I do what I do because of people like you. TheĀ ānobodiesā. Because youāre the fans. Every fandom is not only made up of peopleĀ ādoingā stuff-itās like watching a TV show, not every fan of Supernatural writes or draws for it, yet theyāre all still fans. And now, youāre the fans of the writers and artists too, which makes you arguably more important than us.
Now, when asking for support, you must also keep in mind that only some people will see it. The reasonĀ āpopularā people get support is often because they know each other and are real life friends, AND because stuff from them happens to get spotlighted a little more-this is also why anytime someoneĀ āpopularā says something that can POSSIBLY be problematic, it gets jumped on like a deer by wolves.
If you need support, there are people who will help you. I canāt promise that I know them, my friend, but they are there. Tumblr is just....not always the best place for that. You sometimes have to be rather loud to be heard.
And even other people, theĀ āpopularā ones, donāt get always asked how theyāre doing out of nowhere. Not all the contributors getĀ ārecognizedā all the time. Everyone goes through times where they need support and donāt get it.
Iām sorry if you feel invisible or ignored. I canāt change the attitude of a fandom with a single ask, or give you perfect advice. But try to understand, without you the fandom...isnāt. You ARE the fandom. The artists and writers need you more than you need them, so we need you. If you need support, the only advice I can try to give is be obvious about it. DM someone, like, DIRECT.
Because nobody around this fandom are here to hurt people. Weāre all here to have fun, and enjoy some mercs. You are not worthless, my friend. Youāre the heart of the fandom.
