At least she has Death by her side. Without the Primal Beast, Nier wouldâve certainly been killed by Haughst Isleâs deleterious denizens. Monsters the likes of which sheâs never seen, but which all share a single-minded bloodthirstiness that forces the pairâs hand.
âItâs okay because theyâre only monsters, isnât it...?â Nier asks, standing over the creatureâs body.
âItâs as you say,â answers Death, examining the blood on her digits. âThereâs nothing wrong with defending oneself, is there? Especially against... monsters such as these...â
Nier finds the courage to lean in just a little closer to the corpse. âIâve never seen monsters like this before, but theyâre all over this island... I-I wonder if the Captain would know about them...â
Sighing, Nier reaches up to wipe the blood from her own face as Death dissipates into a cloud of dark mist. It seems that thereâs less monsters inside the islandâs buildings, so if she can find a way back in, then perhaps sheâll also find a modicum of safety.
It is at that point, however, Nier realizes sheâs not alone. Thereâs a child watching her.
Giving a small start, Nier thinks of what to say, of what to do. It should be fairly easy to explain whatâs happened, but something in her mind simply doesnât see the point. It would be too stressful to try and travel with a companion.
Nier simply bows her head. âE-excuse me...â she mumbles. And then she turns and walks away. Surely the child can fend for themselves.
