It wasn’t the kind of injury she had sustained from a hunt... no, this was divine punishment, a weight that all demons born of human flesh had to bear. The worst part was that she had no way of knowing when or where it would strike, as it was one of the few grating aspects of her existence that she had absolutely no control over. Even so, she had always been careful not to let anyone see her in such a humiliating state, staying behind closed doors in the safety of her own home, preferably locked away in her study until each episode passed in its entirety.
Now she was but a sham of her former self, doubled over while seated on her prized chaise lounge, the blood dripping down from her eye staining the upholstery. She didn’t really care how he had managed his way in this time... she just didn’t have the energy for it. Apart from the terrible throbbing in her right temple, she was numb to the ordeal, her voice turned flat and unfathomably cold.
