[Mystic’s Monologue]

We arrived at where the ghouls had been attacked. To our surprise and relief, there is no one dead. The ghouls have formed a circle, protecting the wounded ones.

My Aunt Elle lets out a maniacal laugh, snatching out the guns from her belt; these get quickly enveloped with a violet aura. My mom giggles, taking off the axe from her shoulder and positions it as a bat. Both take off running directly into the crowd of Snake Soldiers, who clearly were not expecting them to be so direct.

Kazuha and I look at one another.

“Wow,” we mutter at the same time.

[Location: Forest — Demon Realm]

Kazuha: “The rest of you, join the group and protect the wounded ones!”

Ghouls: “Yes, your highness!“

Mystic: [The circle widens once the ghouls join. Now the Snakes are forced to back off further.]

“Alright, Kaz… like we practiced!”

Mystic: [I stand beside her, sword in hand; protecting her as she prepares.]

[Kazuha puts her hands together, forming a violet aura around her. I swing my sword around, splattering my clothes with blood from the enemies. From time to time, receiving punches or bites.]

[I gasp tiredly and uncomfortably, feeling the intensity of Kazuha’s magic growing. I look at her for a moment.]

(Not yet.)

Mystic: [Aunt Elle and mom continue slaying enemies with such ease that it seems like they are in the middle of a waltz. My mother swings the axe from side to side, splashing blood everywhere around. Aunt Elle is quick to move her arms in every angle possible, sometimes, even just an inch away from the forehead of the Snake.]

[I raise my hand; a sphere of red aura forms on the palm of my hand, and I throw it. When it makes contact with the ground, it explodes, spreading dust all over. The Snakes back off once their visibility is low.]

[I glance at Kazuha once again.]

(Just a little more.)

[My mother launches herself into the cloud of dust and all I can hear are the screams of pain from the Snake Soldiers. It hadn’t been more than ten seconds, when she came back out.]

Snake Soldier A: “Aaaghh!”

Mystic: [When I get distracted, somebody hits me from behind. Luckily, it hadn’t been hard enough to wound me and make me bleed.]

[Once I turn around, I’m punched directly in the face. I take a tumble back and the Snake tackles me down. We fall to the ground and there, we start brawling.]

“Kgh——!”

Kazuha: “Mystic!”

Mystic: [I fight back and I’m finally able to get him off me. I flip over and quickly crawl towards my sword. I take it just when the Snake jumps on top of me. I turn around, swatting the sword; the Snake blocks my attack with their own weapon.]

[I begin using so much force that my arms start shaking.]

(Dammit… if I let go of the sword now—they’ll cut me head off.)

Mystic: [Suddenly, there’s a flash. The Snake is sent flying off and I’m able to get up again. Someone takes my arm and helps me to my feet.]

“Tha—”

[Expecting to see my mother or even my Aunt Elle, I pause in complete shock when I realize it’s Kino who’s holding my arm.]

“Kino——!?”

Kino: “I thought you guys might need my help. I got here at the perfect moment, don’t you think?”

Mystic: “Hah… dumbass.”

Mystic: [I stand up, holding onto Kino.]

Kino: “Might not know how to use a sword, but I know how to use my magic better than you do.”

Mystic: [I laugh sarcastically.]

“Of course, prince. Oh, but don’t worry. I’ll protect you.”

[We stand back-to-back with one another, looking around us as Snake Soldiers begin surrounding us.]

Kino: “And who’ll protect you?”

Mystic: “I thought you had come here for that reason.”

[Kino takes my hand and chuckles.]

Kino: “——You’re goddamn right.”

[Mystic’s Monologue]

We continue fighting, saving more time for Kazuha.

When the moment arrives, Kazuha looks at me, stares at me firmly and nods.

“To the ground!”

We all throw ourselves down and a wave of magic bursts out of Kazuha’s body, collapsing enemy soldiers and sending many others flying.

Once all the Snakes are on the ground, squirming around or stunned, Kazuha gives the orders to return to the castle. The ghouls let out a triumphant shout and begin gathering the wounded ones.

As I look around, I’m glad to see that no one died on our side.

[Location: Entrance — Banmaden]

Mystic: [We walk into the hallway, some having to hang onto others to walk.]

[Once inside, Kino steps in front of me, which makes me stop. I smile, a bit confused.]

“Wha—what’s wrong?”

Kino: “I thought about it.”

Mystic: [I remain still as my heart begins racing.]

(Oh… after fighting so much, I had forgotten about it.)

Kino: “I thought about right after you left, when I was on my way to help and when we returned…”

“Mystic, I…”

Mystic: [I don’t even wait for him to finish speaking. My anguishes and worries disappear in an instant.]

[I throw my arms around his neck and tug him to me—]

Kino: “Mn…!”

Mystic: “. . . Mn…”

[Kino paralyzes for a moment, before finally wrapping his arms around my waist. I feel tears form on the corner of my eyes.]

[The bystanders around us gasp in surprise and others sigh as if saying “Finally!”]

[On the afar, I can hear my father stuttering. He’s probably looking at us and can’t believe it.]

Mystic: [Kino pulls me towards him and I stand on the tip of my toes.]

Mystic: (Ah… I can’t believe this is happening.)

[After another moment, we finally part away. We both gasp quietly. I place my forehead against Kino’s and smile.]

Kino: “Fufu… don’t cry, Mys.”

Mystic: [Kino runs his thumbs across my face, drying off my tears.]

“It’s your fault…” [Chuckles.]

Kino: “Hahaha!”

[Monólogo de Mystic]

Llegamos al lugar donde los ghouls habían sido atacados. Para nuestra sorpresa y alivio, no hay nadie muerto. Los ghouls hicieron un circulo, protegiendo a los que fueron heridos.

Mi tía Elle ríe de manera maniaca, tomando las armas de su cinturón; estás se envuelven en un aura violeta. Mi madre suelta una risita inocente, quitando el hacha de su hombro y posicionándola como un bate. Tía Elle y mi madre salen corriendo hacia la multitud de soldados Víbora, que claramente no esperaban que fuesen a ser tan directas.

Kazuha y yo nos miramos por un segundo.

“Wow,” murmuramos al mismo tiempo.

[Ubicación: Bosque — Makai]

Kazuha: ¡Ghouls, únanse al grupo y protejan a los que están heridos!

Ghouls: ¡Si, su alteza!

Mystic: [El circulo se agranda una vez los ghouls que trajimos entran. Ahora los Víbora son forzados a apartarse unos pies más.]

Muy bien, Kaz... ¡cómo lo practicamos!

Mystic: [Me pongo a su lado, espada en mano, protegiéndola mientras ella se prepara.]

[Kazuha junta sus manos, formando un aura violeta a su alrededor. Columpio la espada de un lado a otro, llenando mis prendas de sangre de los enemigos. Y de vez en cuando, recibiendo golpes y mordidas.]

[Jadeo con cansancio e incomodidad, sintiendo como la intensidad de la magia crece cada segundo. La miro por un momento.]

(Aún no.)

Mystic: [Mi tia y madre siguen eliminando enemigos con tanta facilidad que parece que están en medio de un vals. Mi madre columpia el hacha de un lado a otro, salpicando sangre por todos lados. Mi tía Elle mueve sus brazos en todos los ángulos, jalando el gatillo de su arma, algunas veces a centímetros de la frente de los Vivora.]

[Alzó la mano; una esfera de aura roja se forma en mi palma y la lanzó. Al hacer contacto contra el suelo, explota, esparciendo tierra y polvo. Los Víbora se retiran al no poder ver.]

[Miro a Kazuha otra vez.]

(Solo un poco más.)

[Mamá se lanza hacia la nube de tierra y solo puedo escuchar gritos de dolor por parte de los Vivora. No habían pasado ni diez segundos, antes de que mamá volviera a salir.]

Soldado Víbora A: ¡Aaaghhh!

Mystic: [Cuando me distraigo, alguien me golpea por detrás. Por suerte, no fue lo suficientemente fuerte para poder lastimarme y sacarme sangre.]

[Al darme la vuelta, soy recibido con un golpe directamente a la cara. Me tambaleo y el Víbora me taclea. Caemos al piso y ahí comienza a golpearme nuevamente.]

¡Kgh—!

Kazuha: ¡Mystic!

Mystic: [Peleo contra mi atacante y finalmente me lo puedo quitar de encima. Me doy la vuelta en el suelo y comienzo a arrastrarme hacia mi espada. Tomo la espada justo cuando el Víbora se trepa sobre mi. Me doy vuelta, bateando la espada; el Víbora bloquea mi ataque con su propio matador.]

[Comienzo a usar tanta fuerza que mis brazos están temblando.]

(Diablos... si suelto la espada ahora—me cortara la cabeza.)

Mystic: [De repente, hay un destello. El Víbora sale volando y finalmente me puedo levantar. Alguien toma mi brazo y me ayuda a sentarme.]

Gra—

[Esperando ver a mi madre o siquiera a mi tía, pauso en completo shock cuando veo que es Kino quien está tomando mi brazo.]

¡Kino, ¿pero qué—?!

Kino: Creí que me necesitarían. Llegue en el momento perfecto, ¿no crees?

Mystic: Ja—eres un idiota.

Mystic: [Me levanto, usando el apoyo de Kino.]

Kino: No sabré usar la espada, pero se usar mi magia mejor que tú.

Mystic: [Me rio sarcásticamente.]

Claro, príncipe. Igualmente, no te preocupes. Yo te protegeré.

[Nos pegamos espalda-contra-espalda, mirando a nuestra alrededor mientras los Vivora comienzan a rodearnos.]

Kino: ¿Y quién te protegerá a ti?

Mystic: Creí que esa era la razón por la que habías venido.

[Kino me toma la mano y ríe.]

Kino: Tienes toda la maldita razón.

[Monólogo de Mystic]

Continuamos peleando, ahorrando tiempo para Kazuha.

Cuando el momento llega, Kazuha me mira fijamente y asiente.

“¡Hocicos abajo!”

Todos nos tiramos al suelo y una ola de magia explota del cuerpo de Kazuha, derrumbando a los soldados enemigos y mandando a volar a otros.

Una vez todos los Víbora están en el suelo, retorciéndose o aturdidos, Kazuha da la orden de regresar al Banmaden. Los ghouls sueltan un grito triunfante y comienzan a colectar a los que fueron heridos.

Mientras miro a mi alrededor, estoy aliviado de darme cuenta que nadie murio en nuestro lado.

Mystic: [Entramos al castillo, algunos teniendo que agarrase de otros para poder caminar.]

[Una vez dentro, Kino se adelanta y hace que me detenga. Sonrío, un tanto confundido.]

¿Qué—qué sucede?

Kino: [Sonrisa.] Lo pensé.

Mystic: [Me quedo quieto, mis corazón se acelera.]

(Oh... después de tanto pelear, lo había olvidado completamente.)

Kino: Lo pensé justo cuando te fuiste, cuando iba de camino a ayudar y cuando veníamos de regreso...

Mystic, tú... tú también me gustas.

Mystic: [Con estas palabras, siento todas mis angustias y preocupaciones en cuanto a lo que había entre Kino y yo desaparecer en un instante.]

[Tiro mis brazos alredor de su cuello y lo jalo hacia mi—]

Kino: ¡Mn...!

Mystic: . . . Mn...

[Kino se paraliza por un momento, hasta que finalmente enreda sus brazos alrededor de mi cadera. Puedo sentir lágrimas acumularse en mis ojos.]

[Las personas a nuestra alrededor jadean en sorpresa y otras suspiran como diciendo “¡Finalmente!”]

[A lo lejos, puedo escuchar a mi padre balbucear. Probablemente nos está viendo y no lo puede creer.]

Mystic: [Kino me junta más hacia el y me paro en las puntas de mis pies.]

Mystic: (Ah... en serio no me lo puedo creer.)

[Después de un momento más, finalmente nos separamos. Ambos jadeamos calladamente. Pego mi frente contra la de Kino y sonrío.]

Kino: Fufu... no llores, Mys.

Mystic: [Kino pasa sus pulgares por mis mejillas, secando las lagrimas.]

Es tu culpa... [Risa.]

Kino: ¡Jajaja!
