Any headcanons for Overwatch AU vampire!Symmetra?
AW MAN I was too tired last night to do this, but I love the concept okay. I can take this in two directions and because I’m feeling excitable, I’m going to give both:
AU where Satya was turned recently:
Satya is unlucky enough to be the target for a vampire who wants a new sireling, but the team rescues her and kills the vampire before she fully transforms and before he can really convince her of what’s happening.
At first, she thinks the very concept that she might be becoming a vampire is ridiculous. Like, come on, magic dragons are one thing, but vampires? Everyone knows vampires aren’t real. Clearly her attacker believed himself to be a vampire, but really.
Except the bite on her neck is burning, and sometimes she can’t see herself in mirrors and she has a sudden aversion to garlic which is really annoying because it’s a really common spice, and sunlight hurts and oh no.
Her final transformation takes three agonizing days, which she spends holed up in her room.
Once it’s over and official, once her eyes glow and she has fangs and she can no longer deny her craving for blood, she takes to it remarkably well. She learns to hunt animals, and being able to move faster, hit harder, and recover quicker than any of her teammates is actually remarkably useful - and so is the shapeshifting. She’s fond of the shapeshifting.
It’s a process, it’s always a process, but she thinks that if Genji could accept being a cyborg and Gabriel could accept being Reaper, she might be able to figure this out.
AU where Satya is a badass ancient vampire queen:
So, this would be more of a “general supernatural AU” where Overwatch might even be an organization dedicated to dealing with the supernatural
Satya Vaswani still lives in Hyderabad - she has live din the area around Hyderabad for centuries, maybe even millennia; no one knows quite how old this graceful, elegant vampire is
She has generally been keeping things under control in her neck of the woods for a long time, because order must be had.
She is the coldest, most badass, most terrifying vampire possible, but before she was a vampire, she was a poor girl, and she never forgot that, so she’s actually quite protective of the humans in her domain. Not just as food sources but as people.
Her interactions with Overwatch come when another vampire coven tries to move into her space and she can’t handle it quite on her own, so she reaches out
I want to go on forever about her interactions with Overwatch but quite frankly that deserves its own fic okay I love it
/HANDS I just. Love. Vampires. I’m sad about how Vampire Satya was implemented in her in-game skin, but conceptually? HOT DAMN THIS IS MY JAM.
