Swearing from underneath your breath you gained more momentum as the noise of multiple footsteps following you reached your ears. You hated that you had to leave work so late, everyone had returned to their homes leaving the streets empty. The street lights flickered as you walked under them making your heart race.
“Hey come over here!”
“Don’t be afraid!”
Whistling followed their sentences, clutching your bag you started to run. With the corner of your eyes you could see someone in the distance. A sense of relief washed over you, this person could help you, you were saved. However you couldn’t stop your pace and bumped in to the stranger, your nose started to sting and placing your hand on it you looked up with one eye open.
“Could you help me?” you asked in a hurried tone. “There’s some guys after me and-”
Your heart sunk when the strangers lips formed into a wicked grin. Grabbing your arm he shouted to the very people you were trying to escape from.
“Guys I got her!”
Whistling and claps echoed throughout the empty street. Your palms sweat as the man held you in a iron like grip. Going in to survival mode you stepped on his foot with all your weight, the man hissed but didn’t let go of you.
“Bitch...” he whispered.
The stranger tugged you forward and then pushed you back, the strength of it was enough to make you fall to the ground. Before you could do anything he kicked you in the stomach, your scream was followed by a coughing fit as you clutched your stomach. You could hear laughter coming from multiple people and when you managed to peel your eyes open you noticed that the stranger who kicked was now waving a knife an inch away from your face.
Frozen with fear you held your breath as the blade inched closer to your face. The tip of the blade dug into your skin, you could feel the warm blood starting to drip down your cheek. Your brows furrowed you continued to watch the man with fear embedded in your eyes. He had such a sick smirk that it made your stomach churn. He pulled the blade away and laughed at you.
A gust of wind blew, you raised an eyebrow when you saw someone standing behind the crows.
“Is that guy bothering you?”
Um, yes?
You couldn’t reply but you managed to slowly nod at the new stranger that appeared. He was tall and slim, he was wearing a long coat with....no shirt on?
“Leave.” the tone of the tall stranger’s voice was enough to send shivers down your spine. The order wasn’t directed towards you but you were tempted to do it anyway.
“Who the hell do you think you are?” the man replied as he twirled the knife between his fingers.
The tall man rolled his eyes and disappeared right before your eyes. Pained groaned came from every direction and all of it were followed by thuds of bodies hitting to the floor. When everyone of the men fell the tall stranger appeared again, he kneeled before you and lifted his hand in an attempt to touch your wound. You shied away from his touch.
“May I?” he asked with a soft smile.
“O-Okay.”
You were so confused as to who this was. He touched the cut and grazed his thumb, you hissed at the intrusion but didn’t flinch. He pulled back his hand and licked the blood off of his finger, you swore that you could hear him growl when the blood touched his tongue.
“It’s nothing too serious,” he said. “But I can still patch you up if you want to.”
“Who...are you?” you asked ignoring what he said.
“Trafalgar Law.”
“What did you do to them?” you pointed to the men on the ground. “Are they alive?”
Law sighed and rolled his eyes.
“Unfortunately.”
He leaned in closer to you and you noticed that his eyes were gold. It sparkled under the bad lighting of the street lamps, despite that they were still breathtaking.
“How did you do that?”
“Do what?”
“Knock them out?”
A devilish smirk spread out across his handsome features. Your heart thumped loudly in your chest and you felt your cheeks heating up.
“I’ll tell you but promise not to freak out.” he whispered and winked at you.
“Promise.”
“I’m a vampire.”
Just as you were about to laugh and tell him to get serious he flashed you his fangs. Your face dropped and your reached out to him, trying to see if they were fake you tried to pull out his teeth. When you couldn’t your fear came in flooding back.
“Did...did you save me to eat me!?” you shouted, flinching away.
“No, no! I’m not going to eat you!” he said trying to shush you. “You promised not to freak out.”
It was funny really, how a deadly vampire was reminding you of your promise with wide eyes. You took in a deep breath, surprisingly it was enough to calm you.
“You can patch me up.” you said out of the blue.
This seemed to take Law by surprise as he raised his eyebrow.
“What?”
“You said you could patch up my wound so let’s go.”
With a grunt you stood up, Law followed and stood up as well, he offered you his arm. Sighing you accepted his offer, and locked your arm with his.
“You better not eat me.” you muttered. Law laughed at you pouting.
Supernatural AU. Law has been a vampire for hundreds of years now, but he is still weighed down by the deaths of his family and Cora-san. His family and country were poisoned by their own government and Law was only able to survive by being fed the blood of Cora-san, a purebred vampire. He was able to grow up and become strong, but Cora was executed by his own brother for his betrayal of the pureblood vampire code by turning a human into a purebred vampire, which should only be achieved through birth. Law is considered an abomination by the vampire community and is now very used to being an outsider, distrusted by vampires for his very existence and by humans for being too different.
As a result of all this, Law decided to live secluded inside an old castle and sealed his heart behind a metaphorical wall of ice in order to never feel such loss again. As a hobby he studied medicine and healed those who he came across, or who managed to wander into his castle, but never allowed his patients to linger for long, having no desire to form a connection only for it to be broken by their death or their rejection of him when they find out what he is. He does allow the polar bear demon to stay and keep him company though; if it wandered too far it would be hunted down and doesn’t find himself worth defending. Plus, he makes a great assistant, and pillow. He’d never known polar bear fur was so soft and fluffy...
But this all changes when his latest patient, a werewolf named Luffy, refuses to leave, insisting they become friends. The young supernatural's huge, genuine smile isn’t helping either. It reminds him too much of his beloved Cora-san. But Luffy in nothing if not persistent, becoming more inspired the more Law tries to push him away. And Law is pushing desperately now, having the sinking feeling that he’s too late; he can already feel that the ice around his heart is half-melted. And it may or may not be caused by the werewolf’s positive energy, sunny smile, and kind heart.
