I wanted to share a little snippet of my Vampire Lucanis fic:
Caterina sighed dramatically and took a seat by his fire, warming her hands and playing up the frail elderly woman role she relied on so heavily. "Rook is a danger to us, Lucanis. Of all the Crows who were present in your rescue, she is the one who saw the most. *Knows the most*. You should have finished her cleanly, not drawn this out like a cat playing with a little mouse."
He raised an eyebrow and moved to stand beside the fire, forcing her to look up at him. "My little mouse knows nothing. The Dellamorte mages ensured her memories were erased so I see no reason to kill her. I find her to be...to my taste."
"To your taste? Is that a joke?" His grandmother's hiss was like that of a viper about to strike. Dangerous and sharp. "This is not a game. You will finish her tonight and we will be done with this business. Magic is a fickle thing, and her memories could return at any moment."
Lucanis narrowed his eyes and felt Spite respond to her anger, his pupils flickering with an unholy red light that gave away the beast dwelling within him. Caterina drew back sharply, unable to hide how much the demon unsettled her.
"And if I don't?" he murmured, leaning against the wall as a wave of red energy swept over him. "What will you do?"
She smiled thinly and got to her feet, suddenly seeming ten times bigger as she dropped the act. "Do not test me. I am your Talon, Lucanis. Defy me and there will be consequences. Family or not, the monster you carry must be fed and kept in check. If you will not do it, I will have Illario slit her throat while she sleeps."
Rage simmered in his chest, his own mingling with Spite's at the thought of Illario touching Rook. Their bride. Their match. The one who's blood tasted like ambrosia, and who had drunk from him all those months ago - cementing the connection between them.
His eyes gleamed brighter and he snarled, baring his fangs. "Perhaps," he drawled, "it is you who should not test me?"
