I wanted to share a little snippet of my Vampire Lucanis fic:
Caterina sighed dramatically and took a seat by his fire, warming her hands and playing up the frail elderly woman role she relied on so heavily. "Rook is a danger to us, Lucanis. Of all the Crows who were present in your rescue, she is the one who saw the most. *Knows the most*. You should have finished her cleanly, not drawn this out like a cat playing with a little mouse."
He raised an eyebrow and moved to stand beside the fire, forcing her to look up at him. "My little mouse knows nothing. The Dellamorte mages ensured her memories were erased so I see no reason to kill her. I find her to be...to my taste."
"To your taste? Is that a joke?" His grandmother's hiss was like that of a viper about to strike. Dangerous and sharp. "This is not a game. You will finish her tonight and we will be done with this business. Magic is a fickle thing, and her memories could return at any moment."
Lucanis narrowed his eyes and felt Spite respond to her anger, his pupils flickering with an unholy red light that gave away the beast dwelling within him. Caterina drew back sharply, unable to hide how much the demon unsettled her.
"And if I don't?" he murmured, leaning against the wall as a wave of red energy swept over him. "What will you do?"
She smiled thinly and got to her feet, suddenly seeming ten times bigger as she dropped the act. "Do not test me. I am your Talon, Lucanis. Defy me and there will be consequences. Family or not, the monster you carry must be fed and kept in check. If you will not do it, I will have Illario slit her throat while she sleeps."
Rage simmered in his chest, his own mingling with Spite's at the thought of Illario touching Rook. Their bride. Their match. The one who's blood tasted like ambrosia, and who had drunk from him all those months ago - cementing the connection between them.
His eyes gleamed brighter and he snarled, baring his fangs. "Perhaps," he drawled, "it is you who should not test me?"
For Lucanis Week Day 5, I opted to go with blood - because I'm writing a vampire Lucanis fic. So here is a sneak peek at the start of my fic.
Dreams of Blood
He was hunting her.
Victoria held her breath and scrunched into a ball as footsteps slowly crossed the room in a measured unhurried tread. He didn't try to muffle the sounds he made, didn't try to hide his presence, though she knew he could have; had he been inclined, he could have moved with the grace and silence of a stalking cat. No, he wanted her to hear him. Wanted her to know he was coming for her.
She closed her eyes tightly, her breath burning in her lungs as the door to the old wooden wardrobe creaked open, deafeningly loud in the frigid night air. Her heart thundered in her chest, beating as loud and fast as a drum as the clothing was pushed to the side and the cool air brushed her skin. He chuckled - a cocky sound - and lightly brushed his fingertips against her hair.
"Victoria..."
He had found her.
He always did.
Victoria opened her eyes and gasped as she gazed up into the handsome face of a stranger who was as familiar to her now as that of Viago or Teia. Night after night he found her in her dreams. Stalking her. Hunting her. Sometimes as violent and terrifying as a demon, and other times as gentle and soft as a lover. His wild black hair gleamed like the wings of a crow, and his eyes, as dark and fathomless as the night sky, burned into hers as he captured her gaze.
She didn't know his name as he knew hers, but she knew his touch, his smell, and the feel of his skin against hers intimately. Craved it. As much as she feared and ran from him, it was impossible to resist the hold he had over her, or to break away from him once he found her.
It was terrifying. Exhilarating. His touch made her blood sing every bit as much as a drug, and she craved him just as strongly.
When he found her, he became her world.
He extended a hand to her in an elegant gesture, his lips lifting in a smirk as she took his hand and allowed him to pull her from the wardrobe and into his waiting arms. Powerless to resist. Unsure now if she even wanted to resist - had ever truly wanted to resist - as he gathered her close and brushed his lips against her throat.
A soft touch.
A gentle kiss.
A lover's embrace.
He drew back and now his eyes glowed with inhuman red-violet light, his pupils dancing hungrily as he pinned her with that gaze. She caught a gleam of sharp fangs as he smiled and he lowered his face back to her throat…

DA Kiss Week - Day 4 || Exploration
I couldn't resist writing something for Vampire Lucanis and Victoria de Riva. Expect a very sexy kiss!
Dellamorte Manor stretched around Victoria in silent grandeur, a vast network of wings, hallwalls and rooms which made even Viago's huge Salle mansion pale in comparison. It seemed ancient and imposing, with dark wood panelling and plush woven carpets stretching in all directions as she hesitated at the entrance of the East Wing. She bit her lower lip, silvery eyes darting around as she listened for any sound of pursuit and, deciding she was alone, set off into the only wing of the house she had been forbidden from entering.
Lucanis Dellamorte's Wing.
The missing heir, who she had been sent to find all those months ago.
Something tickled the back of her mind, a fine silken strand of memory, as though she had forgotten something important. Again the image of herself sitting in a boat on the Treviso canals with a team of Crows around her swam to the surface of her memories. Dreamlike, so she wasn't certain if it was a true memory, or simply something she thought she remembered.
The memory pulled others in its wake. Fragments and images of a vast underwater structure. Oppressive. Terrifying. The stench of algae and rotting seaweed flooding her nostrils. She saw an iron door with deep gashes on it, saw her hand reaching out to unbar the door and from the darkness within two red eyes and a gleam of something monstrous. The memories disintegrated in a jumble of pain, teeth, a mad scramble for survival, and the taste of blood in her mouth… and him.
Victoria blinked, coming back to herself and realising she stood outside of a carved wooden door, as though she had walked here without being aware of what she was doing. She traced the large letters which had been engraved on the door - LD -and with tremulous hands she reached for the door handle and pushed the door open.
The room inside was dark and still, only the ticking of a clock on the far wall broke the silence. It was a bedroom. Neat and tidy, with antique furniture and a large ornate four poster bed. She hesitated for a long moment and something seemed to call her. Not a voice, but a pull. As though she were being drawn forward by some unseen force.
She moved into the room, trailing her fingers over the velvet drapes by the window, running a hand over the back of an ornate sitting chair, and coming to a stop in front of the fire. Embers glowed in the grill, and she froze, the implications of that slowly sinking in.
Someone was here.
The hair on the back of her neck prickled, and she held her breath as someone laughed huskily from the shadows behind her.
Victoria spun with a gasp as a figure moved forward, dim light from a crack in the curtains washing over him. His outfit was expensive - silks, leathers, and velvet in House Dellamorte colours. His eyes were dark, endlessly black, but something deep within his pupils glowed with a hellish pinprick of red. His hair fell to his shoulders, almost artfully messy, but it was his expression which stopped her heart - one of hunger.
Lucanis Dellamorte.
"I'm sorry-" She started to apologise, her face flushing at being caught in a part of the house that had been forbidden to her, but her words dried up as he laughed again and aimed a razor sharp smile in her direction.
Victoria swallowed hard, her eyes darting to the door and then back to Lucanis. The feeling in her chest deepened, a tug, a pull, as though a fishhook were in her heart pulling her forward. Sharp, insistent, but not painful. Her heart fluttered, her pulse raced, and a strange warm feeling spread through her veins. It was impossible to take her eyes off him as he drifted closer, parting ways with the shadows and moving further into the light.
Beautiful. Dangerous. Hungry.
She stepped forwards without realising what she was doing, helplessly drawn towards him as she fell into his eyes, forgetting everything except this man. It was madness. Beautiful madness. She could think of no other word for the feeling that seized her, chasing out everything except the darkness in his eyes.
"How are you here?"
She wasn't sure how she spoke. Her voice sounded a million miles away, and the room reeled drunkenly as she moved inexorably towards him. His smile widened, and she saw the gleam of teeth, of sharp canines, of fangs. It should have scared her, but instead that warm languid feeling intensified, as though this was right and good.
As though she were home.
"Why do I feel like this?" Victoria spoke again, her voice faint as he reached a hand towards her and she took it without hesitating, his strong warm fingers closing around hers and pulling her close. "Why do I want you?"
He inclined his head, one hand holding hers and the other setting around her waist as he leaned close, as though as enchanted with her as she was with him.
And finally, finally, he spoke. "Because you are mine."
Lucanis kissed her then, drawing her into his arms as his mouth claimed hers. Victoria clung, her arms winding around his neck as the kiss went from chaste to devouring between one heartbeat and the next. The hunger flickering in her belly burst alight, and it were as though invisible flames raced through her veins at his touch.
He groaned hungrily, backing her against the wall and pinning her there as he dragged his mouth from hers and nuzzled her neck, his stubble prickling her skin pleasantly as the heat of his lips moved over her pulse point. There was the wet flick of a tongue against her skin, and Victoria closed her eyes, her submission complete as she felt the sharp sting at her neck, and a delicious warm pull as he began to drink…
