leia makes an effort to teach val alderaanian hairstyles. val says she’s got it, she can do it, but when leia’s gone and val tries it on herself, it’s a nightmare. val leaves it like that, knots and loose strands and all, because it’s the thought that counts, she thinks

val teaches leia a card game (one that was banned on a few planets [including alderaan] because it started too many fights). val always wins

leia tried to teach the game to han, chewie, luke, and lando, but she explained it terribly and fucked up a lot of rules, so it’s become a new game of its own

val wins that one too

when theyre feeling lazy and laying around, leia likes to tell val stories of alderaan. val enjoys it, she’s a good listener, but she much prefers watching leia’s face when she talks about her home

one time val gave leia brandy to try, and val warned her that it might be too strong for her, and sure enough, it was. leia had maybe a shot’s worth and was obliterated 

leia very drunkenly cried to val over it (”i’m so sorry, i thought--” “it’s okay” “--i could handle it, i’m so sorry” “LEIA”)

neither of them can cook, but val tries the hardest

chewie cooks for them on special occasions

valkyrie listening to leia give a speech and being amazed by how eloquent she is without sounding like an old fuck of a politican

valkyrie being even more amazed when she sees leia crack a guys skull open

leia being frustrated when nobody understands loss like she does but valkyrie comes pretty damn close so they help each other cope and heal

valkyrie is a skeptic irt the force but every time leia’s slowly making her a believer
