talk more about mr vali also how do you view his personality and his interactions with other gods in asgard + since he's taken on tyr's role how do you view his management of justice
meta questions / @armsdealing (thank you angel…)
his personality is… pretty nonexistent outside of his capacity and thirst for violence. he’s pretty one-track minded in this regard, rarely doing anything that isn’t for odin, because this is all he’s ever known and all he believes he should be. i feel like he’s pretty unapproachable because of this, because he’s just so antagonistic, too, because he is always seeking out blood and looking for ways to hurt. he’s aliented from other asgardians, but not in the same sense týr was; it’s completely by choice, because he believes himself better than them, the hand and will and voice of odin, as he likes to style himself.
i hope the other gods hate him, because he sure hates them.
he’s absolutely ruthless, and if he even suspects that someone may be even slightly annoyed with odin, they have to deal with his wrath (for example, when týr left, váli followed, absolutely with the intent to kill, but it did Not go in his favor, because týr slit his throat. didn’t kill him, because týr is Good, but it only worsened the hatred váli has for týr). this is exactly how odin wishes it to be, of course, so there’s very little in the way of discipline when váli oversteps, which is something that occurs frequently: he is constantly finding himself in fights with the other gods, accusing them of disloyalty. he sees it in the slightest thing, mistaking even a sideways glance as a threat. he’s exhausting to deal with.
it only got worse after he “took over” for týr, because his sense of justice is not justice. he hardly cares for the other gods, so his compassion for humans is actually nonexistent - any injustice that they suffer is deemed unimportant to him. in truth, he was only given týr’s title for show; odin does not expect váli to actually fill in the role, but being deemed the god of justice gives váli even more free reign to be the fucking terror that he is. his interest in ‘justice’ only goes as far as what is best for odin, what odin wants. váli barely exists outside of his desire to serve odin.
