Hearing Hunterâs voice made him nod once. âI did,â he said quietly, still staring at the damage of his room. âIt was the only one I had of her, and now itâsâŚâ he stopped talking, not wanting to trust his voice or his mind right now. Valentin could replace it if he wanted to. But in his heart, it wouldnât be the original that he kept since the day she gave it to him. âI donât think I can get it back.â
.
Hunter's eyes moved from Valentin to the wreckage ahead. Well, it sufficed to say that if this had happened to him, he would have been livid. "I'm sensing this has some sort of emotional value to you," he ran a finger through his jaw. "Maybe it will turn up once people have cleaned all of this up?" Sure he hadn't the highest hopes for it to happen, but it wasn't impossible. And Hunter might have been able to work with what might have been left. "What was this picture like?"
