âhey. whatâs this shit with chris and that chick who he isnât actually dating?â heâd ask for himself, but he knew this his cousin would probably just give him one of those stupid non - answers heâs been purposely feeding to the press for however long itâs been now. besides, knowing chris heâd be interested in why parker was so curious. mimi, however? way too self - absorbed to actually care. / @vainglvry

sipping disinterestedly from his beer, parker glanced around the enormous crowded venue. this isnât his scene, but heâs here and inexplicably keeping mimi vang company. âwere you expecting so many fucking people to show up?â he wondered, nearly shouting over whatever the hell this music was supposed to be. / @vainglvry
heâd gone to afterpartyâs rehearsal space in search of chris, but no one was around â not at first, anyway. wandering over to a rack of pristine electric guitars, he took one by the neck and gave it a contemplative look just as somebody was walking in. parker didnât know who until he lifted his head and smirked at mimi. âyou use a solid gold pick, too?â a jest referring to the guitar in his hands and how...like new, practically polished, absurdly expensive it looked to him. / @vainglvry
THIS just in, Chris Kelley wants everyone to know he is unbothered. In our recent listing, Afterparty bumped down two spots to number 3 on the trending list. And where some might feel down and out about such a drop, the social-media-savvy front man wants us all to know that he and Afterparty are doing just fine. With the special release of their latest single âKissing Strangersâ only two weeks ago, and the song still in the Billboard Hot 100, Kelley really didnât have to remind us to stream it (but he did anyway, and we love him for it.) Now that weâve heard from the âbiconâ, we can only wonder if weâll be seeing some more of this unwavered confidence from our favorite guitar goddess?

Over the weekend, Afterparty set the amphitheater on fire at San Franciscoâs annual LGBT Pride festival. Weeks ago, the band took to Twitter to announce theyâd be âcoming outâ of their hiatus to perform their latest single âBe Meanâ at the concert.
Afterparty headlined the weekendâs celebrations, joined by various other artists who openly support or identify with the LGBT community. The short but raging set from our favorite pop-rock-funk band included old hits like âCake By The Oceanâ and âBody Movesâ, a cover of Rod Stewartâs âIf Yaâ Think Iâm Sexyâ, as well as their new banger âBe Meanâ.
Scroll below to read more about the grand performance . . .
The energetic band opened with âCake By The Oceanâ, one of their first hits and probably their most streamed single to-date. It might be considered a little bit of a throwback, but the crowd was enthusiastic and sang along every word. Their transition into âBody Movesâ, another slam-dunk from the band and every bit as raunchy as weâd expect from this rag-tag group, seemed effortless. Singer Chris Kelleyâs killer vocals and charismatic stage-presence are enough to make you swoon. Meanwhile, bassist Onyx Phoenixâs amazing groove line in the cover of the Sir Rod Stewart classic had everyoneâs hips swaying and singing along as Kelley changed pronouns in the melody to fit the LGBT crowd--âher heartâs beating like a drum is she gonna get this girl??â. Judging by the screams from the audience, it was well received.
Of course, what everyone really gathered to see was their latest smash-hit âBe Meanâ. This come on the coat-tails of a sexy, dirty, plain nasty debut of the single at the 2018 American Music Awards, so the expectations for leather, whips, and handcuffs were high. Afterparty did not disappoint, as usual. Band members flaunted risque outfits in the San Francisco summer heat (Mimi, it had to be really hot in all that leather, are you good?), and the vocalist took the time and place to perform shirtless.Â
The highlight, however, had to be the surprise release of what has massive potential to be a huge summer bop, âKissing Strangersâ. After âBe Meanâ came to a close, Kelley took to the mic again, leading into the new song with a heartfelt message.
âThank you all--we greatly appreciate this opportunity to be here and show our support for the LGBT community. To anyone out there who is struggling with their identity, we want you to know that you are loved and that this journey happens on our own time. Donât feel rushed to do anything youâre not ready for, or donât feel safe for. We love you. This final song is a new one, and weâre so excited to perform it for you because it has a very special meaning to me. Since I was a teenager, Iâve recognized these feelings inside me, an attraction to other men. But I kept them buried, I thought if I didnât acknowledge it, they would disappear. As I got older, I quietly became used to it, acknowledged and privately expressed this desire for male and female partners. Now I stand here today at twenty-four years old, finally ready to say that I am proudly a bisexual man. And tonight weâre not here to be sad, weâre here to celebrate who we are and keep an open heart and open mind. So letâs fucking get this going. Iâm coming out and so is our third album, this is âKissing Strangersâ!â
Many fans and non-fans have taken to Twitter, buzzing about the coming-out announcement, as well as the announcement that their third studio album would be released some time this year. The excitement with this band never ends, and we hope it stays that way for years to come.
Congratulations Chris Kelley, we are happy for you. And congratulations Afterparty, if these singles are any hint as to what to expect from the album, we only have question: Where can we pre-order?
what the fuck is happening ? why is kailani arriving at afterpartyâs release party when itâs pretty well documented that she doesnât like them & really doesnât like mimi ? some are saying this is to promote her album âbleedingâ which she just released information on yesterday. some are saying that mimi & kailani will actually bury the hatchet. some are saying that kailani showed up, purely out of spite & pettiness. it wouldnât be the first time kailani was petty about the band. what do you think will happen ? will the two bury the hatchet or is it more likely that one will hit the other over the head with one ?
