god okay so 2028verse is a future au where kimi ends up as Ollie's teammate at ferrari! it's the joint brainchild of @emillians and myself ❤️

Ollie goes through the cooldown lap, and catches a brief glimpse of Charles’ doing donuts as he pulls his own car into parc ferme, placed firmly behind the P3 board. He clambours out of the car- narrowly avoiding banging his knee on the halo- and runs directly at the sea of red-clad engineers huddled behind the barrier. It’s not him they’re waiting for, he knows, but they all hug him and tap at his helmet regardless. There’s cries of ‘campioni’ and ‘forza’ directed at no one in particular. By the time he’s weighed in and pulled off his balaklava, there’s a third car firmly parked behind the P1 board, brilliant red, the number 16 emblazoned on the nose. Charles stands up in the driver's seat, points a victorious finger up at the sky.

Ollie was two years old the last time a Ferrari driver stood on the top step of the driver’s championship. In the twenty years since, he’s gone back and watched the season, and marvelled as Kimi Raikkonen defied the odds to a background symphony of scandals and lawsuits. He never considered it a possibility that he would be a piece of the chessboard when Ferrari managed to do it again. Not because he thought it impossible, but because he always believed they would get to that final check-mate before his time.

And yet here he is, watching as his teammate leans against the halo of his car, his shoulders shaking with what Ollie can only assume is a sob of relief. Another chorus of fireworks goes up, colouring the night in red and white. By the time those fade to smoke, Charles has managed to pull himself together enough to climb out of the car, and with a running start he simply throws himself into the small ocean of Ferrari personnel.
