- if vampires cant sleep under normal circumstances (re: Owen's ep6), nap time can be just quiet time where they can chill and do a calm activity, or its cuddle time, or they could do like a kind of rest that's closer to zoning out or dissociating

- I feel like Avid does not like nap time

- if someone figures out how to make a rocking chair, it is Over for the littles. nap time becomes a lot easier

- vampire nests

- I feel like Owen doesn't have a nest, but when he's small he'll start building one

- baby bats asleep in pockets <3

i feel like they’d definitely fight over who hogs the rocking chair the most at nap time.. scott declares it as his throne but really shelby uses it more than him when he’s “reigning” over it

i think drift really likes nap and cuddle time because she just gets to relax and unwind for a bit, it feels like she doesn’t have to be afraid for a while :) she and shelby trap avid during nap time with cuddles and he very begrudgingly goes “fineeee >:(“

owen probably isn’t very big on cuddle time at first because he just wants to cuddle louis again :(

- little vampires are bitey. not necessarily in an aggressive way, its generally more of an "I like bite so you must like bite!" way, or a general display of affection. human cgs quickly learn to give them something else to bite.

- when startled, they tend to turn into bats. they also tend to get stuck that way until they either lose their form or become big again

- DO NOT LET LITTLES FLY FREELY! they will crash into everything. and you will probably lose them.

- vampires are cold, they like to seek out sources of warmth. people, nests of blankets, lamps, candles, fires, etc.

- Cleo's comment about being like a livestock guardian dog makes me feel like they should have big protector vibes

- also bc of this Cleo calls Pearl lamb/wee lamb as a petname

- i agree with the other person that sent in a submission about Pearl, i do think she'd generally be quite quiet and probably just want to stay in and be cosy with Cleo

- i can see Pearl curling up and Cleo petting her/playing with her hair i just think that would be very cute and puppy coded

cleo is very protector vibes! their whole thing of drawing the line at any of the other vampires trying to go after pearl is just so aawww! ignoring the little bit of malicious intent ehm,,

definitely, cosy time is a NEED! pearl usually seems so composed but there’s gotta be some stress underneath it all, especially with her whole backstory of her family and werewolves, some time to unwind and just relax is one of her favourite things. she loves a good nap! and head pets during cosy time just knocks her out, so sleepy

i think when pearl first left her family there was a lot of involuntary regressing. like, she wanted to be with her family! to be part of the pack? but obviously she couldn’t be turned, she’s a werewolf HUNTER and she doesn’t want that. but she’s sort of accidentally picked up some of the canine behaviours, which is where the pup regressing started, because she just kept thinking about it for a while

At first it might've been involuntary and frightening and she might've not handled it in the best way at first (not really understanding what was happening) but once Pearl found out, she explained regression to Cleo and offered to be her caretaker. Cleo was nervous about regressing in front of someone since they'd always hide it before, but they trusted Pearl more than anyone so they agreed.

Over time she got more comfortable with it and by post canon (2006 I think was the date?) is comfortable regressing around Pearl, Shelby, Drift, and Scott

She's a very quiet little, always trying to stay out of the way even when Pearl tells her it's okay to take up space. Being curled up in a corner always feels more comfortable than running around.

If it's ever a full moon when Cleo is regressed they will insist upon cuddling with "big puppy Pearlie" at all times. It's unfair to expect her to resist when Pearl is just so adorable and fluffy like that

Oscar (their cat) loves when Cleo is little and can always tell, he'll stay close to them when they're regressed especially if Pearl isn't there and it's sudden

Little Cleo's favorite things to do with each of the people she regresses around:

Pearl - cuddles!

Shelby - reading, she loves when Shelby reads stories to her

Drift - around Drift little Cleo gets very protective and still sees Drift as a fledgeling, (for example:

Cleo: You're just a newbie, I hafta protect you

Cleo: Just a little fledgling!!! I hafta protect you cause I know more vampire stuff

Drift: But I'm- ugh, okay, fine. You're a very good protector

Cleo: I know!)

Scott - Cleo likes to argue with Scott in a playful way. They're never actually mad, just cranky and needs a way to express it. And banter with someone as witty as Scott helps with that

- I think cleo deserves to get a break and be small. especially after Everything.

- pearl, cleo, and the others when they come back to visit will leave gifts (drawings, flowers, cool rocks, etc.) on the graves occasionally

honestly these were hard to write, it's difficult to find places to put softness in canon. I figured i'd leave more au ones to a different ask later.

AW 😭❤️ owen!! :( letting go of two things that were all he had left of louis (blankie and vampirism) must’ve been so hard, i can’t imagine giving up my comfort blankie

absolutely cleo deserves a break!! it takes some convincing and reassurance but they eventually do regress, and pearl tries so super very hard to take the best care of them! there’s a moment where cleo just starts crying. and crying. and crying. and pearl thinks she’s done something upsetting or that something’s wrong but cleo is just finally letting out all these emotions she’s held back for literal years, pearl holds them for as long as they need, just trying to soothe them as they let out all these emotions. pearl whispers soft things like it’s okay to feel this way and let it all out, that she’s not going anywhere, it’s all okay now.

when shelby and drift are little, they’ll colour together, so every time they visit avid’s grave in oakhurst with scott, they bring a new drawing that they worked together on of them, scott and avid all together. i think shelby, eventually, brings one for pyro too. when pearl is puppy regressed and/or shifted into a werewolf, she’ll just automatically start picking up things like pretty rocks or leaves or sticks that she finds in the forests and bring them to the graves as gifts, though one time she tried bringing a dead chicken and cleo swiftly stepped in with a no.

sausage always, no matter what, comes back to renhardt and martyn’s graves, he brings flowers and wood carvings and candles, ones that remind him of the smell of ren’s cabin, even if the cabin smelled more damp from the rain, they’re close enough but never perfect

More Puppy Regressor! Pearl! Because I finished watching her POV and found out that her being a werewolf is canon! :O I love canon puppydog Pearl!!!

So firstly, she loves going on walks in the woods! Cleo will come with her to make sure little!Pearl isn’t doing anything that might get her hurt(or eating pinecones off the ground).

Pearl gets easily distracted by squirrels or chickens and chases after them; sometimes this leads to her getting found in the middle of the woods, other times… Cleo hasn’t been able to save the little critters from becoming a snack… Then Pearl gets restricted to the leash!

Pearl is very warm and Cleo is very cold(temperature wise), so they like to cuddle up! During full moons, Pearl is extra warm and likes to snuggle up with Cleo while in puppy brain. Pets are required!

To add onto that, Pearl loves pets! Pets galore! Head scratches and chin rubs and all the pets. Very happy puppy :3

Pearl bites though… Only sometimes! As a stim! She gets too excited or frustrated or whatever and just chomps! Nom! Cleo has gotten her many chew toys but Cleo’s arm is still her favorite.

She chases her tail… She finds it embarrassing sometimes but Cleo insists that it’s cute and she loves watching her spin around and gnash at her tail.

yesss walkies! i think pearl eventually starts picking stuff up that she finds like sticks and rocks and refuses to drop them, so cleo has to start bringing a basket for all of pearl’s “treasures” for them to take home. pearl says she doesn’t mind if cleo tosses them after she comes out of headspace, but cleo never has the heart to do so

the leash is effective! but sometimes cleo forgets how strong pearl actually is after being a monster hunter. there’s been a fair few times when pearl has almost tripped cleo after getting too excited over seeing a chicken

I like the idea that when Pearl regresses she tends to let her werewolf tendencies show, lots of play fighting energy meaning she will very happily run around on her own jumping around and getting dirty in the woods.

While Cleo won’t necessarily play fight with her they will bare thier teeth and hiss when Pearl growls at them. This usually just ends with them giggling at eachother.

Also the thought of Pearl coming back to thier house after a long day of exploring the woodland and Cleo calling her thier “mucky pup” is cute to me

my favies!!! <3 since cleo doesn’t really play fight, they need a different way to burn up all of pearl’s remaining energy at the end of their walks that isn’t just rolling around in the dirt (as much as pearl likes to) so cleo and pearl also play fetch! it’s easy and tires pearl out so they don’t have to stay in the forest when all the mobs come out

ANYWAYS, Pearl is a very outdoorsy little! That’s why she’s always getting “lost” in the woods all the time. She loves stick sword fights and climbing trees and jumping over small streams.

When Pearl is sure that no one is around, she will make a small stick fort and hide in it. The small space makes her feel cozy and safe, which is very much needed when you’re surrounded by vampires and other horrors all the time. She makes sure to destroy them afterwards so no one finds out(she feels so sad every time).

She also loves making flower crowns, although Oakhurst is quite lacking in more colorful foliage, so they’re all either grey or red and she’s starting to become bored of her options.

She will pet any kitty(or any animal for that matter) she finds. If she can carry it home, it is now her new pet. Cleo has had to tell her to return the wildlife to the woods way too many times.

Pearl hides her baby voice by playing with Oscar(is that its name? The ghost cat she found in the tomb). It’s common for people to use silly voices when talking to animals, so that’s what she’s doing! Definitely not because she feels weird and spacy and has a strange desire to have someone hold her… definitely not…

I’d say that Shubble was the first to catch on. They are the most knowledgeable on this kind of stuff. They aren’t entirely confident but they are very suspicious. Sneaking up on Pearl is impossible, so Shubble has to watch while they’re with other people; but Pearl doesn’t seem to regress as much in public compared to in solitude(at least not as openly).

Cleo hasn’t really caught on, but they did notice that a cup of warm tea and a blanket will make Pearl very quiet and almost shy. She’ll curl her knees to her stomach and refuse to start conversation herself. But Cleo can tell that Pearl is cozy, somewhat sleepy, so after a long day(or a traumatic one), she’ll blow out most of the candles to dim the house and brew some tea for the two of them.

the little stick forts! :( i feel like a vampire has passed her by maybe once or twice during these times, i have a headcanon that scott can always tell when someone is regressing, so if he spotted her, he’d just move along and pretend he didn’t see her, he can’t bring himself to bother

shelby tries to veryyyy subtly hint to pearl about in when she catches her on her own, but pearl always seems oblivious about it (*seems!* she knows what she’s doing.) really, pearl just isn’t sure how to talk about it yet, or if she even should.

i think sausage has maybe also mentioned noticing it once offhandedly during when he was interviewing her for her book, but he isn’t as knowledgeable as shelby so it wasn’t one of his burning questions that he paid most attention to, so pearl got away pretty quickly with him, he’s more focused on all the werewolf stuff anyway
