Uh. anyway, my on-going love affair with this soap opera of a show continues! I love the thread of Thach trying to get someone who isn't Phuc to delete all his photos of Linh off his phone.
I do kind of wish this show was more aware of the different accessibility things for blind people on phones. Like, there is so much a smart phone can do if you can't see! Thach could be so much more independent!
I mean, sure, that's not the point but it'd be awesome to have more positive representation of the possibilities for people with disabilities even if we know that Thach is going to get his vision fixed in the end (thanks to the trailer).
But anyway I liked the way Phuc was very clear that he saw Thach's blindness differently than Linh or even Thach does. I liked the argument outside, I liked Duy and Phuc teasing Thach, I loved the lapsitting part... this show is just so much fun.

For those who are unfamiliar with Vietnamese BL, having a secondary couple is not super common. In fact, it's really rare. There's been a het one (Nation's Brother), a GL one (Stupid Boys, Stupid Love) and Most Peaceful Place had an unrequited crush but no real second pairing. @absolutebl did point out that My Lascivious Boss did have an established secondary pairing!
So as much as I hope for a secondary pairing, i recommend not holding your breath.

Okay, to clarify.
The main tropes is stepbrothers but that's never bothered me.
I find it to be darling and very sweet and I did like both characters and how their relationship grew through the story. And the ending was darling.
So yes! I do absolutely recommend The Promise.

I have watched it! It's interesting and looks a strange mix of dark and also light fluff and I'm not entirely sure what to make of it yet. But it's definitely gonna be interesting.
