 Kira recognized his reluctance, but remained undeterred and unmistaken. She smiles at his answer, and stood still at the edge of a boundary, and concurred with a nod. They were barely partners than seasoned confidants, but she knew a kindred spirit when she saw one, and so approached the offer carefully. “Now if I did know you better, I’d come to all sorts of conclusions why you might need one, and then you might not let me. If I had a reason myself, I might not be physically stable enough to let you.” Facing him, she fixed a kink in her neck humbly. Only V would contest her, than give a simple yes or no. “However, with few ties between the two of us and even fewer calm moments, I’d very much like to suspend reason and give harmless affection.” With open arms, she reiterated, “If you want to.”

 Kira was used to taking on extra errands for the group, the lot of them barely adults to begin with banded together by necessity and familiarity as well as righteous intent. With a mysterious cooler hanging off her shoulder, her hands were full, carrying two pizzas (meat lover’s and half cheese-half veggie) and a tray of drinks (two milkshakes, two frappuccinos). And yet, she had all the balance and grace to somehow close her door and lock her car. “What is your diet? Vegan, vegetarian, kosher, cannibal?” She carried on walking down the graffitied alley, hoping to continue this conversation as they approached garage doors.

  “No-no-no-nono–DANTE!” Kira flinched, caught in a corner with arbiter embedded in the wall, impossible to get her shoulder out without nicking something. Did she know, what he was like, that he wanted the world. “Didn’t you?” She snapped. “…He’s supposed to be the older brother, but it’s always been about you. Everything he is–stronger, smarter, more prepared, more structured–was for you, until the day that it wasn’t. Until the day he actually had a legacy of his own and people who loved him.”

 There was no use keeping facts from him. If Kat trusted V, so would she, and perhaps even further with details her ragtag trinity would omit. “Your presence is a welcome reprieve from a bubbling tension.” The lady reiterated as she removed her hat and sunglasses, and decided to round the room to better assess his wares. Gloved hands hovered over the displays curiously with no intention to touch just yet, but every interest to buy once she’s through with formalities. “As much as I would like to condone romance in times of war, I find causes hold up better with a broader sense of community.” She turns to face him, and sway into his orbit. The lady offers a hand to shake in introducing herself. “Kira Drake, pleased to make your acquaintance.”
