"My four best friends and I live in 5 different states all around the country and even though we only see each other once a year, I know that I can always pick up the phone to hear a friendly and sisterly voice. It could have been 2 days or 4 months since we've spoken but not matter what, we pick up where we left off. Even the little things haven't changed, like our annual Secret Santa exchange or the inside jokes. I'm definitely myself with them, I always feel my best next to my sisters."
Some questions we would love to answer!
A few PNMs have approached RCs and our executive Recruitment Team with a few question's we thought were worth sharing the answer to! Please feel free to ask these questions to women you are meeting in our sororities!
1. "If I receive a bid to join a sorority, what ways can I get involved in leadership?"
Each sorority has their own protocol to determine who will hold some of the leadership positions in the organization. Typically, each sorority has their own executive board (President, Vice President, New Member Educator, Secretary, Standards, etc.) which are held by members of the chapter who have set an example of leadership and have been involved. Most chapters have sub-leadership boards that are committee chairs for some of the smaller projects in the organization. Definitely be sure to ask individual women about their own leadership experience within their sorority years!
2. "I know that it's hard for 100+ women to all be BEST friends. How do chapters handle conflict between sisters and encourage sisterhood?"
Each sorority has their own process for handling behavioral issues within the group. With 100+ women living as a sisterhood, sometimes members feeling like there is conflict or needing a person to talk to can go to a designated sister who will help mediate a conflict. Most sororities also have a board member that is in charge of coordinating events to promote sisterhood and bonding! Be sure to ask the women you are visiting what they do for their sisterhood events and how they handle any sisterhood conflicts!
