This is my mapping for the dagger, I cut it trying to make it flat, without having weird edges. The Unfold section, helped me out a lot because i just puts it in place for me without touching.

Year Two Week 2: UV and Hand Painting with 3D Coat
To be able to use 3D Coat, I first had to do some UV-maping and some baking into the dagger. The dagger was and object that had a similar sides, this was easier for me when UV-mapping because I duplicated the other side and the uv-mapping gets duplicated as well.
