Ngl, as much as I adore klamille, I did find it odd that Klaus didn't do anything to Cami too. It's not that I wanted him to actually put his hands on her, but I did expect something more than what happened. And again, it's not because I wanted him to or that I want him to now, it's just because it's Klaus and that's what I expect out of him. I also figured that if he has no problem punishing his own family, that he would have no qualms about Cami, since she endangered him and his family.
But why? Klaus has never wanted to hurt Cami. Even back in early S1 when he barely knew her and she was still under his compulsion, she would tell him off and even slapped him once and he did absolutely nothing. Klaus has always had a soft spot for Cami. Even admitting to her uncle Kieran that the way sheâs spoken to him, others were killed for much less than that.
She threatened to expose his secret to the world after she was decompelled and he did jack shit. He allowed Marcel to come back to the Quarter because it was what she wanted even though he had just found out that Marcel was the reason Mikael came to NOLA in 1919. He sent Cami away in 1x22 because he didnât want his demons to destroy her. Mikael has been chasing him down for 1000 years and Klaus  chose not to kill him, but the moment he hurt Cami we got âWell he hurt you, and for the alone Iâd kill him.â He took her the the safe house where his daughter was so she could be safe too. He only bit her in 2x21 because it was part of the plan and because if not Dahlia would have harmed Cami herself. And what was his reaction to that? âWhen I hurt youâŚâ he could not even finish the sentence because thatâs how much it pained him to hurt her.Â
So I say all of that to say this, Klaus has always had a soft spot for Cami, even when he was compelling her. He grew to love and is now in love with her and he trusts her and he doesnât trust many people. And throughout the course of this show Cami has been the one person whoâs always been on his side, sheâs always been there for him. She listens to him, she hears him out and treats him like a normal person. Why would anyone ever think it was weird that he didnât do anything physical to her? Especially considering the reason she even took the horse was because he took something from her first. Like I said in my post, Cami is going through a lot right now and the person who promised to keep her safe, is the reason that she died is now a vampire. Klaus knows this and he also knows she didnât take the white oak with malicious intent unlike his family betraying him before.
One last thing, I wouldnât say that Cami got away free with what she did, she was tortured and the item that could kill the man that she loves and his family is now in the hands of his enemy. Not only that, Iâm pretty sure Klausâ disappointment that she didnât trust him will eat at her just as much as any payback for what she did ever could.
