first look at star wars hunters dropped and it looks pretty bad tbh but i do have to appreciate that one of the playable characters are just 2 jawas stacked on top of each other like like theyre the dwarves in snow white
Utooni my beloveds
Star Wars Hunters (5/?)
Continued from Part 4.
Utooni's next costume is Suspicious Huttballers. Huttball is a sport that was developed for the Star Wars: The Old Republic video game. It's also a game mode in Hunters. The top brother's robe has HUTT written on it in Aurebesh.
Some of the things you can spot in the skin file, are the Huttball logo on one shoulder pad, and the team logo on the other. I think this is the logo for Grozz's Huttball team.
On the opposite side of the Aurebesh is a graphic reading "OUTER RIM" and "AD". Also on the droid dome is the number 2 in one of the Aurebesh styles.
The weapon wrap, Huttballer Set, includes modifications to both blasters - with the pulse blaster resembling the Bryar pistol, first wielded by Kyle Katarn in Dark Forces and seen on screen decades later, wielded by Cassian Andor in the Andor series.
Suspicious Huttballer: "Their playstyle is unorthodox, but I think it works." - Zaina
Huttballer Set: "If I get knocked off the goal line one more time by those little shelkars I swear I'll… aurgh!" - Rieve
I couldn't find shelkar used as an insult, or referring to some type of animal or creature - but there was a Selkath NPC character named Shelkar in the Knights of the Old Republic video game.
The next costume is Tagged Salvagers. This sees the brothers dressed like Skilla bounty hunter Carib Diss from The Rise of Skywalker, complete with painted on teeth!
In the game's skin file, you can see the personal logo of fellow Hunter and graffiti artist, Glikken, explaining the colorful graffiti tagged all across the brother's outfit.
On their back, they're carrying a type of power droid I believe, but I'm not sure what model it might be.
The weapon wrap, Tagged Set, features new looks to both blasters, but I'm not sure what specific weapons, if any, they are referencing.
The game files refer to this set as "Scum and Villainy", referencing Obi-Wan Kenobi's classic line about Mos Eisley in A New Hope.
Tagged Salvagers: "I'm pretty sure there wasn't any graffiti on that outfit BEFORE Glikkin arrived…" - Zaina
"I've been assured Utooni's weapons doesn't actually fire paint… but I'm not getting close enough to find out!" - Sprocket
The next costume for Utooni is Procuring Salvagers. This sees the brothers wearing various items they've stolen.
On their back, they're carrying a few different droids: A TT-8L gatekeeper droid from Jabba's Palace in Return of the Jedi, the head of an R4 astromech droid, and their helmet is revealed to be the head plate of a pit droid from The Phantom Menace.
This costume is referred to as "Origin" in the game files. The weapon wrap, Procured Set, shows further modification to the arc caster and pulse blaster, but I'm not sure what they're meant to reference.
Procuring Salvagers: "The sheer number of droid parts on this outfit is wizard - but also a little bit scary!" - Sprocket
Procured Set: "It's rumored that the Anzellan who made these weapons never found who stole them. Utooni better hope he doesn't watch our show!" - Sentinel
Sentinel's quote mentions an Anzellan, a species that premiered with Babu Frik in The Rise of Skywalker. An unnamed trio of Anzellan mechanics feature in the game's Scrap Salvage mode, riding in a Ubrikkian 9000 Z001 landspeeder.
The last Legendary costume might be my favorite, Dianoga Divers. This outfit references the dianoga creature that tried to eat Luke Skywalker in the Death Star's trash compactor in A New Hope.
The brothers are covered in grunge and grime from the trash compactor, and the name references the popular "dumpster diving" hobby. The top brother also wears a discarded stormtrooper breastplate.
Looking at their back you'll see two things. First - the top brother's hood has a giant dianoga eye! Below that, they're carrying an RA-7 protocol droid ("Death Star Droid") head, and a broken MSE-6 repair droid ("mouse droid").
The weapon wrap for this costume, the Dianoga Set, is much more organic than all the others. I don't know that it references any specific weapons though. Both do feature the dianoga's tentacles coiled around it though, like what happened to Luke in the film.
Dianoga Diver: "Utooni would jump in a trash heap with a dianoga in it if it meant getting to the best salvage!" - Sprocket
Dianoga Set: "I honestly have no problem with Utooni dumpster diving for treasure. As long as they take a shower before getting back in the Arena!" - Zaina
There is one extra weapon wrap for Utooni without a matching costume and that is the Peachy Set wrap. The game files refer to it as "Landspeeder Red", and it does resemble the color of Luke's landspeeder and the curved line detailing.
Before we move on to the next Hunter, I also wanted to share Utooni's banner and player icon.

Star Wars Hunters (4/?)
Continued from Part 3.
Continuing Utooni's Star Tours theme is the Tourist Set weapon wrap. This replaces the barrel on the arc caster with clenchers resembling one of RX-24's hands.
Tourist Salvagers: "Utooni said they wanted to leave Vespaara to travel one day. I guess it's just some Jawa call to steal what's never been stolen before." - Slingshot
This references the planet Hunters occurs on: Vespaara, in the Suolriep sector of the Outer Rim Territories.
Tourist Set: "I think the Jawa brothers would make wizard tour guides! They always know where to find the shiniest stuff!" - Sprocket
This references Kitster's "Wizard!" exclamation in The Phantom Menace, and Din Djarin's in The Mandalorian.
The last Epic costume is Scavenger Salvagers. The brothers are wearing yellowish-white robes and additional armor on the top brother's head.
On the back is the remains of an IG-series assassin droid held in the same sort of backpack Chewbacca carried C-3PO's parts in during the Cloud City scenes of The Empire Strikes Back.
The game files refer to this costume as "Scavenger 88" referencing the assassin droid IG-88 from The Empire Strikes Back.
The Scavenger Set weapon wrap features an orange stripe running across both guns, and the barrels replaced with something more closely resembling IG-88's DLT-20A blaster rifle.
Scavenger Salvagers: "How in the name of Ssscorekeeper did those Jawas get their hands on an IG assassin droid? Now THAT'S a hunter I'd like to challenge." - Charr
This quote references the Scorekeeper, a goddess worshipped by Trandoshan hunters, who collect Jagannath points to determine their place in the afterlife. This was first mentioned in Kathy Tyers' short story, "The Prize Pelt: The Tale of Bossk" from 1996's Tales of the Bounty Hunters.
Scavenger Set: "Don't let the IG droid the Jawas are wearing get their hands on these weapons and we should be fine. Juuust fine." - Rieve
The next tier of costumes is the highest, Legendary, and these are the most customized. The first one we'll look at it is the Bantha Brothers costume. The brothers are sporting more colorful robes on this one.
And on their back, they're carrying a bantha horn! According to The Wildlife of Star Wars, you can tell a bantha's age by the number of segments, which grow each year. Also, Ben Burtt's Galactic Phrasebook states that the Jawaese word for bantha is "ugama".
The Bantha Set weapon wrap has a few beads and bangles attached, as well as tufts of bantha fur. The barrel on the pulse blaster has been replaced with something resembling the Tusken Raider gaderffii stick.
Bantha Brothers: "Utooni is starting to smell like a bantha. Someone throw a bucket of water on them and remind them what washing is." - Sentinel
Bantha Set: "Let's hope those two never get their hands on a real bantha! They cause enough chaos in this Arena as is." - Slingshot
The next Legendary costume is the Dewback Deceivers. This features the top brother wearing a robe seemingly made of dewback skin, along with the top part of a sandtrooper's armor including orange shoulder pauldron. The bottom brother is wearing the sandtrooper's utility belt.
On their back, instead of a droid, they're carrying a large satchel and it looks like part of the sandtrooper's SD-48 survival backpack unit. You can also see more of the dewback skin pattern.
The game files refer to the costume simply as "Dewback" and, there are two possible weapon wraps that could go along with this. First is the Dewback Set. This has a big change to the arc caster's appearance, and the pulse blaster looks a bit like a miniature RT-97C heavy blaster rifle used by sandtroopers.
The other possible weapon wrap is the Deceiver Set, called "Dewback Rider" in the game files. It has some strings attached to the weapons holding dewback teeth. The arc caster body is also changed to resemble a sandtrooper's E-11 medium blaster rifle.
Dewback Deceivers: "I didn't know they had a Sandtroo- Wait.. Hey you two! Get away from there!" - Dizzy
Dewback Set: "Let's hope those Jawas never get their hands on a Dewback. Can you imagine what they'd steal with one of those beasts for transport?!" - Slingshot
Deceiver Set: "You have to respect their dedication to keeping everything they've ever scavenged." - J-3DI
Utooni's next costume is the Endor Reclaimers. This is based on the Rebel troopers' uniforms in Return of the Jedi, with the top brother wearing the distinctive helmet worn by the strike team on Endor.
You can even spot the red and yellow symbol seen on the movie helmets, seen more clearly here in the skin file.
On their back, the brothers are carrying a backpack containing a silver 3PO protocol droid, with this arm dangling out of a tear in the left pocket!
The weapon wrap, Endor Set, also features some similar red and yellow symbols along with some leaves and twigs from the Forest Moon. The blasters both feature new barrels but I'm not sure if they directly reference any specific weapon.
Endor Reclaimers: "One being's battlefield scrap is another duo's treasure. They'd have done well during the war." - Sentinel
This references Sentinel's time as a stormtrooper during the Galactic Civil War.
"Utooni's weapons often look like they were modified by hand… are they secretly mechanical geniuses?" - Sprocket

Star Wars Hunters (2/?)
Continued from Part 1.
The next costume for Utooni is the Shadow Salvagers. The darker robes kinda resemble the Offworld Jawas from The Mandalorian. The game files refer to this costume as "Shadow Grab" probably a typo for "Shadow Garb". The R2 dome has dark gray panels.
The next Rare costume is the Sunset Salvagers. Inspired by the Tatooine sunset, these kinda remind me of Padmé's Handmaiden robes from The Phantom Menace. The game files refer to them as "Twin Suns" again referencing Tatoo I and Tatoo II. The R2 dome has red panels.
Next we have the Cobalt Salvagers costume. This sees the Jawa brothers wearing blue-white gradient robes. The game files refer to this costume as "Astro Blue". The R2 dome is blue with yellow panels, similar to R2-C4 from Star Wars Resistance.
Utooni's next costume is called Ashen Salvagers. This is a more subdued gray for the robes, but a black/orange color scheme for the weapon wrap. It also has a small symbol on the stock of the pulse blaster, which seems to resemble a sandcrawler's cockpit area. The R2 unit dome is dark grey with orange panels.
The last Rare costume for Utooni is Rugged Salvagers. This features the brothers wearing two different colored robes, blue and green, and a copper color scheme for the weapons. The game's files refer to this costume as "Stitched Robe". The R2 dome features light blue panels.
The next class of costumes and weapon wraps is the Epic tier and the cool thing about these are that the R2 dome on the one brother's back gets replaced with different droids!
The first Epic costume we'll look at is the Gonk Collectors. The brothers are wearing light brown robes, with the longer robe reading GNK in Aurebesh, and on their back is a GNK "Gonk" droid!
The droids first appeared in the Jawa sandcrawler in A New Hope, where they first started making their distinctive sound (a droid language called Gonkian). These droids were originally called EG-6 power droids, and I believe the GNK and "gonk" name originate with The Phantom Menace.
Interestingly, "Gonk" was a fan term coined by Shaun Daniel Sullivan on the rec.arts.sf.starwars Usenet all the way back in 1993! With the GNK designation, the Gonk name became canon!
The droid on Utooni's back more resembles the "double layer" original EG-6 style than it does the "triple layer" GNK style from The Phantom Menace.
The weapon wrap that goes along with the Gonk Collector costume has a blue color scheme, with some light up “power gauges” on the arc caster reminiscent of what you might find on a Gonk, along with a power cable wound around the barrel of the arc aster, and another on the stock of the pulse blaster.
There were actually three Gonk costumes released for Utooni, with the next one being called Power Droid Prospectors. The brothers' robes don't read GNK in Aurebesh on this costume however. The droid on their back kinda resembles the unnamed power droid at the Lars Homestead.
The Prospector Set of weapon wraps follows the power droid’s color scheme and again features the light up sections and power cables on the weapons.
The last Gonk costume available for Utooni is EG-6 Enthusiasts. They again have robes with GNK in Aurebesh, this time in blue. The power droid on their back has more of a teal color scheme than the last one, along with a big patch of rust.
The EG-6 name I believe originates from West End Games' Galaxy Guide 7: Mos Eisley from 1993 in its game stats for the droid EG-67.
The Enthusiast Set weapon wrap is like the other two Gonk wraps just this time in orange and teal colors to go along with the lights and power cable.
Starting with the Rare class of wraps, they have unique descriptions, usually quotes from fellow Hunters.
GNK Collectors: "I don't know why, but they love those droids, can't help themselves." - Imara Vex
Power Droid Prospectors: "Oh yeah, I let them borrow some of my power droids... haven't seen them in a while though." - Sprocket
EG-6 Enthusiast: "Tell you one thing, I wouldn't run around with a rusted old fusion bomb strapped to my back." - Imara Vex
Fusion bombs were used to lay waste to Mandalore during the Great Purge.

Star Wars Hunters (1/?)
With the imminent closure of Star Wars Hunters on October 1st (awful rollout of the game by the developers/publishers - extremely long closed beta and botched PC release) and the fact that it will just no longer be playable by anyone, I wanted to do a dive into some of the fun lore aspects of the game and look at the characters and Easter Eggs present in the game. I came upon the game's files, thanks to OneSpeed06 in the SW Hunters Community Discord and wanted to share some of my discoveries.
It's a shame it'll be gone, and one of the main reason I hate live service games like this. This could have had a full release that people could continue to play multiplayer on, even if only at home and not against online opponents.
Anyway, our first character to look at is Utooni, the Jawa brother team. In the game's files, Utooni is given the designation of Cha002, which means there was a Cha001 probably at some point who didn't make the cut. Wonder who that could have been?
Utooni's name comes from the Jawaese word utinni heard in A New Hope. According to Ben Burtt's Galactic Phrase Book & Travel Guide, it means "a battle cry of sorts, a triumphal call to all other Jawas nearby that prey has been located. The cry also is used as a great exclamation, proclaiming great wonder or excitement by whatever impresses them".
Utooni was the name of a pair of Jawa brothers, whose names were untranslatable into Basic. They commonly traveled one on top of the other, with the brother on top wearing long robes that covers the brother on the bottom. Their weapons of choice were a pulse blaster, wielded by the brother on top, and an arc caster, which first appeared in the original Star Wars Battlefront.
A royal guardsman using an arc caster in Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron.
The arc caster is the larger of the two weapons and looks more cobbled together in most of the weapon wraps, while the pulse blaster looks more like the Jawa ion blasters we see in A New Hope.
Utooni's ultimate ability is the two brothers hopping into their mobile scrap cannon to blast a continuous stream of energy at their opponents for a few seconds.
As you can see, the scrap cannon, cobbled together from various parts, has a cannon attached to the body of a WED Treadwell droid, also first seen in A New Hope at the Lars Homestead on Tatooine.
WED-15-77 with Luke Skywalker in a deleted scene from the beginning of A New Hope.
Two other weapons used by Utooni include an ion imploder, which when thrown draws enemies into the same spot and then detonates, and a sonic grenade, which is left behind whenever they're defeated as a last ditch effort to injure their enemies.
The ion imploder being tossed at a pair of training droids.
The Utooni brothers have several costumes and weapons wraps, most of which consist of the basic Jawa robes, with utility belts and pouches, along with an R2 unit dome hanging from their back.
We'll start with their Base costume, the Suspicious Salvagers, and its associated weapon wrap, the Suspicious Set. The R2 dome on the back has yellow markings.
Suspicious Salvagers: Traditional Jawa robes, heavily modified, diligently cared for. Suspicious Set: Whether it's deconstructing machines or Hunters, Utooni always has the right tool for the job.
Then there are 5 Uncommon costumes and weapon wraps, each named Suspicious Salvagers with the associated color (Teal, Green, Blue, Black/Gray, Purple). They all have the same descriptions as the Base costume and wrap.
Each of the colored costumes have R2 domes with the same costume color. Same with the weapon wraps, although the Black costume corresponds with the Gray wrap.
After the Uncommon costumes and wraps, we have the Rare ones which are a little more interesting, but all still use the same descriptions. First, we have the Desert Salvagers and the Desert Set. These are just lighter colored robes, along with a white painted set of guns. The game files referred to this costume as "Tan Robe". The R2 dome has a tan color scheme to its panels. The descriptions for both match the base costume and wrap.
Next up is the Filthy Salvagers costume and Filthy Set wrap. I like the red stripe and wires on the arc caster here. The game files referred to this costume as "Muddy Brown". The R2 dome has a reddish orange color to its panels.
Next we have the Undergrowth Salvagers and Undergrowth Set. These robes look plant-like with layers of green. The game files referred to this costume as "Default Green". The pulse cannon's barrel now has a bandage wrapped around it unlike the diamond pattern on the Base wrap, and the arc caster has a stitched appearance like the vests seen on some Jawas in A New Hope. The R2 dome has a red color to its panels.
Next up is the Teal Salvagers and Teal Set. I really like the teal-green to white ombre going on with their robes. The game files referred to this costume as "Teal Steal" and "Default Teal". The R2 dome is blue, as opposed to the silver of the other costumes, with white panels.
The next one is the Chartreuse Salvagers and Chartreuse Set. Chartreuse is a vivid greenish yellow color named after the French liqueur. The game files referred to this costume as "Junk Green". The R2 dome is dark grey with yellow panels.
