A watercolor painting by Alan Lee of the legendary land of Útgarðar. Originally published in Castles by David Larkin, I scanned it from Norse Mythology by Arthur Cotterell. Cotterell wrote a trilogy of excellent mythology references in the Nineties, two of which have illustrations by Lee. They are now available together under the title The Encyclopedia of Mythology.
This painting has a special significance to me because it was the base for the Christmas tags I made the first year I had a scanner.
