Redid my old deltarune Chara ref and changed some things
They're a perfectionist. They were raised to pay attention to every little detail and keeping up appearances was a golden rule. They're all about efficiency and getting a job done in the most optimal way, hence why they choose not to make friends or connections outside of the ones they already have (which the only one is with their little sibling and Asriel after some time)
They're tough on themself and their time in college with Asriel will give them time and space to realize the system they grew up in was really fucked
Not much has really changed from the old design but the old one was bothering me and I felt like it needed a refresh :3

I have thoughts and theyre extremely unorganized oughh
First, I think universal mother theory was onto something. Mainly talking about how people thought Toriel might be an alcoholic because of how Queen acts around Kris, and then boom chapter 4 ends with Toriel getting wine drunk
Related to that, that scene was weird right? I feel bad for thinking something was off, cause I saw someone else's interpretation of it being that Sans was helping her have fun for once and take a break, but I can't help but think something was off. Kris and Susie were out for probably HOURS without calling or texting to tell her where they were, Undertale Toriel probably would've been worried sick but deltarune Toriel wasn't even fazed. Granted she was drunk but before that I'm sure she would've worried, right?
I think maybe it ties into her allowing Kris to do a lot of things they shouldn't just cause she thinks they're just "things they do". I think, where Undertale clearly showed Asgore's faults (not that deltarune doesn't do that too, he's fucking weird in deltarune) deltarune is showing Toriel's. She's kinda... neglectful?
But then again, I don't know. Clearly Kris has been in some kind of therapy, so she'd know they have some issues, but then she just let's them stay in the bathroom with the water running for like, an hour? Doesn't clean up or question the blood stain in their room, doesn't question them not having much on their side of the room. She seems like the kind of person to act like nothings wrong, if something happened she'd pretend it didn't, dismissive
Shes kinda like that in Undertale too with how she tries to get you to stay with her. I don't know about yall but there's a pattern in deltarune of the adults failing these kids
And back to that ending scene, Sans doesn't help. Yall know I love Sans, but man if he don't just fuck shit up
I feel bad for Kris there for multiple reasons, first they have to come home to that after experiencing hell, they don't even know this guy and he's in their house dancing with their mom at ungodly hours of the night, and then they can't get any sleep because they're so fucking loud
I honestly wonder how chapter 5 is gonna start, I think if Sans stays over it's gonna be exteeeeemly uncomfortable. I swear if he tries to make any more "befriending your mom" jokes I'm makeing bone powder out of him (if Kris doesn't do it first)
I brought it up in a live chat once but can we talk about how different Kris's dark world form is compared to everyone else? Granted, everyone else has been a monster while they're human but I don't think that has anything to do with it
Kris literally turns BLUE in the dark world whereas everyone else just gets a slight hue or saturation change or no change at all (in Toriel's case)
(would've done Toriel and Undyne too but idk if there's full clean sprites of their dark world forms)
I'll be honest, I'm not sure what this means exactly but i do think it's relevant, they're too drastically different from the others for it not to be
I really hope the new chapters give more evidence for Ralsei being the horned headband
To me personally I don't really need more evidence but I think it'd neat to have more
It just makes sense to me, he looks like a Dreemurr but isn't quite Asriel since his horns are pink, which in the light world they'd be red, he's the embodiment of what Kris wanted to be to fit in with the rest of the town (not their true self, just a persona they made up so they wouldn't stick out)
Ralsei having a whole identity crisis over what being "Ralsei like" is, is because he wasn't MEANT to be himself, he was supposed to be someone else but since he's gained sentience he has to learn who he is
I think Kris is uncomfortable around him because he's uncanny to them, they recognize that he's this character they made up a long time ago and seeing him face to face is just uncomfortable. Imagine meeting the version of yourself you made up in your head to fit in? Ralsei isn't really Kris, nor is he actually who Kris genuinely wants to be, he's what Kris wanted to be to fit in, to not be so different from everyone else
Ralsei isn't Asriel, he's not a dead version of him either, the anagram from Asriel to Ralsei is to show Kris wanted to be like their brother too, Asriel was the one everyone liked and thought highly of, including Kris themself
If I'm completely wrong about Ralsei being the embodiment of Kris' insecurities and being the horned headband then idk what he is, cause this feels like the definitive answer to me

Im gonna do some rambling and predictions under the cut
so first thing, I don't think there will be a weird route in chapter 3 but I think there'll be one in chapter 4. From what we see, chapter 4 looks like it might be darker both literally and in theming and honestly I'm so hyped to see how deep it gets >:3

Chapter 3
No weird route (as I already said)
The weather couple (I don't remember how to spell their names) either make Toriel uncomfortable (in the sense that they remind her too much of what her relationship used to be like) or they irritate her
Divorce jokes, cause we already had some before and the whole dark world is probably gonna be centered around the Dreemurr's family issues
Ralsei puts the hat back on around Toriel and doesn't explain why
Napstablook is the tag along be they and Toriel don't become party members
Side note, my personal candidates for the secret boss just based off the items not being used
The trashed flowers (possibly giving a reference to Flowey, if it doesn't get turned into a secret boss I really hope it's an npc)

The green crayon (pretty weak imo but it'd not only disprove Ralsei is the green crayon but also it's missing so eh)
The shit under Asriel's bed
Chapter 4 (I don't know much about it but I'll try to make some guesses)
It mostly takes place at the church, the dark world is opened after Kris and Susie (and maybe Noelle, Catti and Jockington) sneak off during service
It's much darker than the ones we've seen before, and Chapter 3 ends up being the calm before the storm
We either get more info on Gerson, December or both
The light world segment takes place after the church stuff
The Chapter would end with a dark fountain opening either in the pizzeria or the grocery store, both would involve Sans and Papyrus as the next tag alongs
Also Catti and Jockington won't be party members, only Noelle
New idea for who the knight is: the Knight is a titan and Dess is trapped inside it
The knight looks a lot like two of the titans shown in Ralsei's version of the prophecy
With the titan in chapter 4, we see that the titans themselves are like dark worlds, but I don't think they're like the normal ones
Dess is calling out in the code from INSIDE the titan/knight
The knight doesn't even look like a lightner, which if it was JUST Dess it would, but instead it's a monochrome featureless being. Dess being inside the titan explains the Dess-esc features, the horns the baseball bat for a weapon
And if this is the case, maybe Kris is working with the knight not because it's Dess but because they know Dess is trapped INSIDE it, maybe they know how/were there when it happened and made a promise to Carol to fix it, that being the only reason they're doing what they're doing, they just want Dess back
There were so many remnants of Dess in chapter 2 because she was calling out, she literally does so through one of spamton's dialogs
Thinking about monsters finally leaving the Underground and then seeing their first tornado like what the fuck I'm going back in the cave
