In Johto, Cameron enjoyed the new challenge the more difficult Indigo League presented. He didn't talk about his time in Kalos other than it was where he came from. He took his time in the gym challenge, wanting himself and his Pokemon at peak form when he got to Blackthorn City. Along the way, he had a could of clashes with a gruff redhead. Cameron's journey was made better by having a rival he wanted to beat.
Until he arrived in Mahogany Town. Cameron's starter, Sven, alerted him to the strange frequency that hurt the Pokemon in the lake. The rampaging Gyarados proved to be too much of a difficulty to Cameron's Pokemon alone. He had to work with his rival, Silver, to help calm the Pokemon. A strange man in a cape approached them afterwards, hinting that the store in town was quite odd. The two followed this lead, where they found the Rocket hideout in town. They wiped out Team Rocket, with Sven taking out the radio jammer.
After the two cleaned out the base and returned to the main town, the cape wearing man approached them. He had followed them through the base without their knowledge. The man gave hints about the upcoming Ice Path, along with talking about the gym leader behind it being undefeatable. Cameron became excited, he knew this was the reason he came to Johto in the first place! After making sure his Pokemon were ready for the icy travel, Cameron raced Silver to Blackthorn. In the back of the gym they found the leader was none other than the man who they met in Mahogany: Lance. Having chased Drasna's recommendation all the way here, Cameron put his all into the battle with Lance. Once again, he came out on top.
Lance later told him that he still had yet to pass the challenge of the Dragon Master. He allowed Cameron and Silver access to the Dragon's Den to take it on. Cameron's jaw dropped when once again, he encountered Lance as the Dragon Master!
After passing the last challenge, Cameron chose to remain in the den to train under Lance. After Silver left, Cameron made the decision to take on the victory road. The anxiety of having to face the Dragon Champion, Clair made him hesitate. Cameron took extra time in victory road to be sure he was ready.
He was certain he would be the newest Dragon Champion. The greatest dragon trainer of all time.
