A Family Mystery
I wish we never went into the attic. My sister and I were playing a game of hide and seek, but it turned into so much more. It was a late Sunday afternoon, and we couldn’t go outside. Our mother ha grounded us for breaking her favorite vase. I was looking for my sister in the attic when I noticed the wallpaper peeling. It stood out because it was in the middle of the wall. Staring at the paper I notice the this section was different then the rest, as it had been put up after the other prices. I looked closer and noticed the outline of a door. Curiosity took the best of me and I reached for it; I wanted to know what was behind the wallpaper. I started to peel it back, and I heard a someone moving behind me. I froze them slowly turned around but no one was there. I continued pulling on the wallpaper, moving quickly now. Once done I took a step back dumbfounded. There was no secret door here just a brick wall. I continued walking backwards, not realizing someone was now standing behind me. As I walked into them they quickly grabbed me and I screamed. I heard maniacal laughter and immediately realized it was my sister. She took a great amount of pleasure in scaring me. “Why are you staring at a wall?” I couldn’t answer her yet because my heart was still beating out of control. “Well... wait did I scare you that badly that you lost your voice?” She began laughing again, and I could only glare at her. “Come find me when you’re normal again.” She snickered then walked away, and all I could do was stand there. One day the tables would turn I will have the upper hand, and when that day comes she better watch out. As I stood there thinking about my revenge I felt a gentle breeze on my legs; looking down there was a small crack between the floor and the bottoms of the brick wall. Now that I was calm and could look more closely at the wall it looked as if someone had put it there to cover up a door. There had to be a way in. I stepped closer to the door so that I could examine it better, and felt another breeze. I crouched down to look through the crack, and a notebook came flying out of it. I picked it up and looked it over. On the front in scraggly writing it said “demand answers”. Confused by what that meant I flipped through the notebook. There were pictures of this beautiful island, and strange people. On the last page of the book there was more scraggly writing. “Don’t let them swap their lies for the truth. One day you will find us, and we shall have our king back”. Unsure by what this meant I went to find my sister. I was still mad at her but maybe she could help. She was always telling me our family had secrets, maybe it was finally time that I knew them too. When I found she was watching a marathon of some reality tv show, there were girls fighting on the tv. I threw the notebook at her and asked “Do you know anything about this?” She looked through them smiled at me laughing again “Oh baby bro, it’s finally time that you learned the truth.”
