Monsters Are We: Prompt #8
'You're a monster!' The hero roared in fury as he dealt another heavy blow to the villains face. He just wanted to pay back all the hurt the villain had inflicted on the civilians. He wanted him to understand what pain felt like. Was that so wrong?
The villain turned to the side and spit out blood before turning back to the hero, face stoney. 'How do you think monsters are created welp?' Growled the villain lips curled in a snarl. He did not wait for a response nor did he really care for one, the answer would always be wrong anyway. The hole in his arm ached, his body burned. He was tired, so tired. 'Always assuming. You heros jumping to conclusions on who is evil and who is good, as if it is you who decides! Monsters are simple and in-turn are created more simply than you realize!'
He exhailed deeply, his breath coming out in soft white clouds in the frigid winter air. 'Treasured things broken, cherished things lost, and love in the grave.' He felt the burn where his heart was, or had once been. 'Emptiness makes monsters boy.'
The hero before him looked shocked. His arms falling to his side. 'You know I'm right don't you?' The villain said licking his split lip and coming away with the copper taste of blood. 'You feel it even now don't you? The hollow place where love once lived.' The villain fell to his knees, his head spinning, his body numb. 'So, you and I aren't so different after all.' He said with a bitter smile.
