All these scenarios people are writing are really heartbreaking and cute, but I think I understand his perspective now from all the questions about him that you've been answering, or I might be completely wrong too lmao.

So we know that being a half-blood is dangerous, but we don't know why yet. The thing is, the deal with Ashlyen is that besides being scared of what we could become, you also say that he keeps his distance so that he can do "the right thing", and that he hopes he never has to do something that breaks Elianna's heart. I think that from that we can safely assume that being a half-blood is more than simply having the parents be different species, and more than simply unfounded prejudice (still prejudice tho, don't get me wrong).

It seems Ashlyen keeps his distance so that, in the case MC turns out to be what everyone fears, it would be easier for him to "deal" with us and go along with the wishes of the House of Eight instead of being clouded by his feelings for us as a father and put other people in danger, which is what would happen if he had any sort of contact whatsoever with us, since he actually wants to be our father and be with us and mom. I do believe he is trying to help make things better for MC from afar, while also giving himself options if the worst came to be.

The only time he visited us he somehow made Elianna scared, maybe he did so because he wanted to see his child and assure himself that what he was doing was for the best. Or maybe he didn't go to see us at all, but mom to make it clear for her what the situation really was. For a moment I thought he could have had a breakdown and regretted his decision and gone to deal with MC, but changed his mind, but since you said he believes in the idea that "all life is sacred", I discarded this option.
