Today we started our first SKLAS conference for the year. A group of clergy and lay leaders from across the Western Cape gathered to reflect on the theme: “The Church and the 'new normal' after Covid-19.“ The Chair of the SKLAS committee, Rev Glenda Fredricks and the Moderator of the Synod, Rev Dr Llewellyn Macmaster lit a candle and prayed in memory of the Church members and Ministers who passed away since we last met before the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Each participant received a copy of the new book, “Covid-19 in Congregations and Communities: An exploration of the influence of the Coronavirus Pandemic on congregational and community life’, (edited by Prof Ian Nell). Rev Babalwa Sifuba is leading the Contextual Bible Study on our topic, and our other speakers are Rev Dawid Mouton and Prof Cas Wepener. These events are Co-hosted by the SKLAS committee of the URCSA, Kerk in Aksie (from the Netherlands), and the Beyers Naudé Centre for Public Theology (Stellenbosch University). #publictheology #urcsa #beyersnaudecentreforpublictheology #sklas (at Trail's End Bike Hotel) https://www.instagram.com/p/CZpKsQRMN01/?utm_medium=tumblr
