Upway, the French startup that refurbishes and resells electric bikes across a range of brands, launched in the U.S. Tuesday. So this weekend was Phoenix Fan Fusion. Used to be Phoenix Comic Con, but whatever.

Me and my mom were in Phoenix for the weekend and had a booth on the con floor. We were staying in a hotel nearby the light rail in downtown Phoenix, and I'd taken to calling the light rail the "above-ground subway" just to troll my mom and maybe get a laugh out of her.

So Sunday rolls around, and we go out to eat with a friend of hers. We're eating delicious foodstuffs, enjoying ourselves, when Mom brings it up, and her friend, lets call his Bob, points something out.

Bob: The word 'subway' implies it's underground. Thats the 'sub' part.

Me: ...

Me: so its a "way".

Mom: thats not..

Me: it counts, theres no technicality error, right?

Bob: well yeah but-

Me: ok so it works. Wait does that mean the skytrains at the airport terminals are upways?

Mom: *sIGH*

Bob: technically it's a "superway"

Me: thats stupid. Upway sounds better. Its not a superhero.
