Exactly! I've been trying to convince my mother that 'zwarte piet' is racist, but she thinks it isn't because apparently it didn't originate from slavery. Just because something wasn't meant to hurt, doesn't mean it doesn't hurt right now.
That's exactly what I meant, my original response was racist and I know that now. At the time I didn't even know that it had anything to do with slavery, neither do any of the kids. But if I look at it now from a different angle, I see where they're coming from. And as white people, we don't get to decide what's racist and what's not. We're not oppressed by 'traditions'.
What is your biggest dream in life?
Hmm, probably owning my very own Tardis and marrying my own River Song. Or Clea DuVall. I get to have companions, right?
Unless you want a realistic answer. I'd say financial stability, a room full of Lego, another room entirely dedicated to our hamster with a glass wall or two to view the cuteness, and a Clea DuVall in my bed.
