Appearance

He did, however, try out a beard and mustache combo for a couple months while on the road again with his carnival, but it was mostly due to his lack of personal care having been so busy with running a full time business again.

Top five relationships (friends, family, etc…)
His Carnies: Nothing is more important to Samuel than his family. Having lived in the city to try another lifestyle for Kiara, he realised just how important they were to him. After everything happened with the factions, he decided it would be safer for them to travel again, rather than keeping them in the one place like easy target practice.
Kiara: With every day that passes, Samuel notices Kiara getting more and more sure of her own mind. He loves that she is growing and blossoming into a world of her own. However, at the same time he can't help but feel his heart ache for the Kiara that was.
Peter: With a past like theirs, it's difficult for them not to be close at this time. In ways, Samuel still feels like he owes a great deal to Peter for helping become the man he is today.
Significant events/development from vol. 2
CarnEvil: Losing Kiara only to find himself in the most difficult situation of his life. Samuel lost himself a little at this time, and ran off to deal with his grief in his own way. Upon returning, he slowly regained his strength and became the man he used to be.
Star Spangled Collision: Samuel's trust was scarred on this day. All he wanted to do was help but he had managed to do the exact opposite. This caused him to question a lot of his motives, as well as the true safety of his family. This had caused him to move away from the carnival with Kiara in order to try and start new.
Carnival Games: Leaving his carnival with this as his departing party, Samuel left with not only a sense of sadness but in a way it justified his reasons for leaving. There was a part of him that didnt want to leave his family behind, but no matter what he'd still be there for them.
Retaliation: Although not centrally involved with the whole event, this was a turning point for Samuel as he realised that it was time to return to his carnies and help protect them again. Being away from them was dangerous for them as well as himself and Kiara.
Significant events/development during time jump:
After the defeat of the Rogues, Samuel decided to sell up and move back to the carnival. Far too much has been going on in the time he had spent while away and so, he took the initiative to travel with his family again. Keeping them on the move meant that they couldn't be in one place long enough to be attacked, or at least suspected of being anything other than a harmless carnival.
With this decision, Samuel had to decide to take more of a back seat. He only made appearances when it was necessary. This was to stop anyone recognizing him from the fiasco in New York, another method to keep his family safe. However, the travelling is taking its toll on him a little and he has found that he's not as upbeat and energetic as he used to be.
The idea of a normal life for Kiara is gone, and it's something that bears heavy on his shoulders.
More recently, he was contacted by Peter Petrelli. Unsure of what his old foe would need with him, he ran anyway, still feeling that he owes a great deal to him. He has left Kiara in Southern France in the care of his carnies while he attends to business back in New York.
How has your character been affected by the plot:
Samuel's usual upbeat personality has diminished slightly. He'd constantly worried that his family will be wiped out by Nexus, hence the need to keep them on the move constantly. Even then, he's tired a lot because he's getting on in life.
Now, Samuel is tired, afraid and a little paranoid but he still manages to crack a joke every now and then. But the safety of his family is constantly niggling at his brain.
