it has always been instinct for rodolphus to be protective , to have the back of everyone he surrounds himself with. he’s done for bastan , and he has done for bellatrix. and i think that at first , that caused a lot of tension between them because they both had so much to learn about one another , and he would always just BE THERE when things got out of hand. and he had to find a balance between being her backup and being her shield , which she did not need , not all the time. so it took time for their fighting styles to mesh , but oh boy when it did.
