9) In between the shadow and the soul, what’s your favourite scene that you wrote?

Everyone is asking the hard questions this morning! I think it has to be the final sparring scene in chapter 4.  I loved getting to show how far they’ve come, the change in their relationship dynamic, and of course any time I get to write sparring like sex it makes my tropey heart happy.

If I could draw, I would absolutely draw the part where Ignis nicks Gladio’s lip with the lance, as that’s the image I knew I wanted to end that spar with.

10) In between the shadow and the soul, why did you decide to end it like that? Did you have an alternative ending in mind?

You and I may have talked about this before, but this is a great question.  Somewhere in the abyss of my google docs, there’s a quarter finished draft of a canon compliant ending to between the shadow – for those who haven’t read the fic, it follows the verse 2 ending as written.

The reason why I changed to the verse 2 ending was a) Episode Ignis came out while I was writing it and b) I really needed to process my Gladnis feelings after the infamous ‘What the hell were you thinking?!’ line and c) I hadn’t seen a lot of people exploring the verse 2 ending in a Gladnis context.

I also think many talented authors have explored post-canon Gladnis far better than I ever could, but I digress.

Ultimately, I love happy endings. I wanted these boys to have the happy ending they deserved in my heart, so that’s what I wanted to write.

I’m gonna cheat slightly and answer with a pairing since I don’t usually write one without the other: my current favorite is Crownyx!  If I had to pick a solo character… Ignis!

Probably Prompto. Not hating on the sunshine boy, but I had to pick one!

30. hardest part of writing

Keeping on going. Believing in yourself. Ignoring the negativity and writing what YOU love. Finding the discipline to write when you’d rather be playing videogames.  There are so many hard things about writing hahahah but I love it!

UUUUM would you be surprised if i said it was Prompto?? Becauseit Prompto. My wonderful, sweet, Trying His Best, kinda dumb son Prompto :’)

H: Howwould you describe your style?

OH BOY it’s like…. ~Poetic Vibe~™ with an excessive us of almost-run-onsentences that shouldn’t work but still do, and like... sort of clever dialogue and dumb jokes that i totally think are hilarious. It’s big ol’ mess, but it all works out in the end, somehow so i ain’t questioning it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 

UNSTEADY!!!!! T—-T you know I love ‘between the shadow’ and I love you for loving it. The fact that you (and others) took a chance on a first/second person POV verse 2 50k love letter always astounds me, and I’ve forged so many great friendships because of it (yourself included. <3)

I’m actually in the process of trying to come up with a title and move the Hedgewitch/Earthshifter stuff over to its own series today! I’m not allowed to write more until I’m done with a different WIP, but once I am… I’m back in there for sure. They say to write the stories you need to hear, and right now, I could use some magical, whimsical romance. I never planned on it being more than the first fill, but as you know, the story sort of wrote itself in my head and I’m itching to get it out.
