Hey y’all, I know I don’t do this very often and I’m not sure how much clout I can get with this blog and my personal blog combined, but... my very favorite channel on YouTube needs help, and I want to spread the word.

SBSK is probably the single most wholesome channel on YouTube and has really taught me a lot about disability, neurodivergence, love and acceptance. 

The comments section on all of their videos were recently disabled via a bullshit YouTube algorithm supposedly meant to protect minors from predatory comments (of which there are most emphatically none on SBSK, YouTube has not provided a shred of evidence and has not locked out the comments sections of bigger, more successful channels that also feature minors in their videos).

So! If I could ask all my friends on here... if you just have a few minutes to spare, have a look at SBSK and see what I’m talking about. Every single one of their videos is oozing with a positivity and sincerity that I’ve scarcely seen anywhere else, especially on the internet. The comments section for these videos is always a heartwarming outpouring of support and love, and I want to see it reinstated so badly. 

It would mean a lot to me if I could get more people to join in the campaign of love on Twitter to help #UnSilenceSBSK. If you don’t have a Twitter, you can still reblog this post to help spread the word here on tumblr, or sign their petition to help the cause.

SBSK is an amazing channel that interviews people with various disabilities and gives them a place to talk about what they want the world to know about them, and how they want to be seen and treated. The comment-section community of SBSK was the nicest, most supportive place - there was a huge amount of support for the people who were featured on SBSK, and the community has even raised money to buy critical accessibility equipment for people featured on the show before. You can see how upset the people who run SBSK are in the video where they ask for help.

It’s also very interesting that youtube has recently been called out for a problem with videos of children having pedophiles in the comments; and so they go ahead and ban comments on videos that aren’t even always of children, but do always feature disabled people. “Protective” discrimination is still discrimination and yt should be ashamed of themselves for censoring SBSK based on hypothetical risk.
