Psyche found herself a touch shy around the god. She'd only recently discovered the truth of her own involvement and it wasn't how she thought it would have been. She'd not known that she'd married a god rather than a monster.

"I didn't mean to upset her."

There was a silent anger that rumbled within Psyche at the idea that the goddess had thrown such anger at her for something that had been out of her control. But she wasn't so sure what Hades' stance was when it came to the goddess. She wasn't stupid. She knew that anything she said could get back to Aphrodite and make these trials that much worse. Though, it had seemed as if many had taken pity upon her and had offered their help, for that she was more than thankful for. But still, she did not offer them trust.

"no." poseidon replied, more unbothered than a man holding an ancient looking grenade should have been. in fact, poseidon looked about as relaxed as a person on a beach, inspecting the device in his hands with a look of curiosity devoid of all concern. "you think i can get it to blow up in that embankment over there? or should i aim for the trees. i think if i just pull this thing here--"

The fall of an empire was a sad sight to see. Des had come into existence after the fall of a grand empire, a world full of empires, fallen. He had come into a world broken, a world destroyed, a world in ruin. And he had brought it back from the brink.

To see an empire fallen celebrated filled Des with distaste, but the celebration does not exactly surprise him. A rival empire is a rival empire. Rival Gods are Rival Gods.

Still, the god clicks his tongue to show his displeasure, though it seems more like a gentle scolding than it does true displeasure. Hades reminded him of his brother. Not only because his brother, too, ran the world beneath the world, but in their strange way of celebrating the decline of civilization.

"celebrate? hardly." But his smile reappears, his hands clasp together at his chest, and he looks at the bow with wonder. A bow was not his weapon of choice, but revealing his guns to a world not yet entirely aware of them seemed like a silly idea.

"it has been some time since i have used a bow. no, no, a man i know used one, though. a follower of mine, he'd have been a fine ri'der... it is such a shame he disappeared." Des's face clouds, but only for a moment, before that easy smile is back, and he takes the bow. Softly humming, he looks it over, knocks and arrow, and takes his aim.

A moment later, the arrow goes flying, and hits its mark, just next to where Hades's arrow had landed. Des's smile broadens.

green eyes had never burned brighter. their break up had given hades the ultimate gift. he'd found love. anger and jealousy rumbled within minthe. he'd used her as all men and women abuse nymphs. they take as they wish and leave nymphs behind. what nymph truly ever had their happily ever after? each and everyone that had raced towards that happy ending had found heartache and chaos. hadn't echo's story been a warning for them all?

         ANNOYANCE BURNS SWIFT AND DEADLY.    like an inferno threatening to consume her from inside. but she's able to tamper it down. to stow it away deep inside the cage she normally kept it. something she'd trained herself to do for years. to bury things deep.   to play the human facade.    once she feels calmer than she once was. she allows a neutral expression to settle on her face, as she looks up at the male. his countenance surrounded by the Grecian sunshine, and she has to fight to urge, to repeat what she actually said. this time filled with nothing but sass. and annoyance.

" me stubborn and big headed ? " demeter's voice bordered on stretching, a piercing sound as she stared at hades . " it is not me , do not dare to think i am the one being stubborn here . "

demeter breathed through her nose , craning her head up to stare at the dark sky . it was calming , in a way , to have it stare back at her . she let his question flutter between them , a tension she hated but having no words in that moment .

finally , after moments of silence , her head moved towards him . she could only swallow down words she knew would hurt him - she never wanted to hurt any of her siblings - and finally found the strength for any words . softer words , or as soft as she could get in that moment .
