Chrome delete on Arizona’s nicest Tesla P100D
It’s often we have the pleasure of working on Tesla’s Model S’s, Model X’s and soon to be Model 3’s; but it’s a rarer occasion to work on a modified Tesla owned by one of the most enthusiastic people on fire for Tesla as our client. This combination makes every appointment truly a welcoming and exciting experience every time.
The agenda this time was to do a “chrome delete”. This is a fancy (or maybe not so fancy) term used in the industry to black-out chrome trim by using either satin, matte, or gloss black vinyl material to give the vehicle a more aggressive look. All window trim, mirrors, door handles and front bumper/rear bumper trim is chrome on the Tesla.Â
We also removed the front “T” and rear emblems to paint black, since wrapping these in vinyl won’t yield the result we or our client were after because the material just doesn’t comply to such intricate and small surfaces. Â
Mid process, the mirror is wrapped, door trim and door handle are not.Â
Front grille and lower bumper pieces wrapped. T painted, ready to install red T over top
The transformation, although subtle, made a huge impact on the appearance of this car. We & our client couldn’t be happier with the results!Â

Shortly before SEMA 2016, the skillful team at Unplugged Performance revealed its upgrade package for the Model X. The tuning specialists have thus become one of the first aftermarket shops to fiddle around with the electric SUV, and since it’s looking cool, everyone took a closer look at it – why not you?
The Tesla Model X by Unplugged Performance shows off some obvious tweaks on the outside, such as the front-end – which now features a custom bumper and angular fog light surrounds, adding to the bold attitude and overall menacing vibe. Unplugged’s Model X also shows off unique twin five-spoke black alloys, hiding a set of bright blue brake calipers.
As you can easily see, this Tesla Model X rides closer to the pavement as originally intended, while a set of bespoke side skirts and revised wheel arches hint towards upgraded and possibly extreme performance. Last, but not least, the fresh exterior look also includes a revised rear-end, comprising a beefier bumper and diffuser package, alongside blacked-out badges and a decklid spoiler.
The guys at Unplugged Performance also went for some cabin updates, such as various carbon fiber components, new leather and tailored options that would make any potential customer smile. Speaking of performance ,you can also go for massive carbon ceramic brakes at the front $8,995), but that’s about it. Secure a pre-order for the body kit ($1,000) and enjoy the envious looks as you pass pedestrians by.
