SUMMARY — after 3 years of not having a phone, your parents finally decided today was the day you'd finally get one— granted, it was an old one, to be more specific, a hand-me-down, from your dear old brother, Tadashi Yamaguchi. And after just 2 days of using, a random number suddenly texted you out of the blue and acted like they knew you?

You walked into class excited, skipping over to your seat beside Yachi. Setting down your bag, as you pulled out your brand-new phone.
“Yachi! Look, I have a phone now!” Yachi turned her head when you called, catching a glimpse of the phone in your hand, smiling excitedly.
“Woah! This is a moment in history!” She exclaimed excitedly, abruptly standing up in her seat.
“That’s a bit dramatic.”
“What?! I'm just shocked, okay? We’re 1st years now, and you’re the only one without a phone.”
“Until now!” you replied grinning, shoving the phone in front of her face.
“They bought you a new one? What's the reason?” Yachi asked, looking carefully at the phone. “Well… it’s not technically brand new..” You replied, looking away as if caught red handed.
“It’s my brothers.”
After class ended, you waved goodbye to Yachi and made your way to your brother's classroom, peaking inside to see if he was still in there. You saw him standing over Tsukishima's desk, his hands on each corner of the table as he rambled about something.
Suddenly Tsukishima turned his head to you, almost like he knew you were there, with a quick side-turn he looked at Yamaguchi who in turn looked over at to what he was looking at.
Tadashi ran over to you, as he spoke a bit out of breath, "Hey...I can't walk with you home today." he said with an apologetic look, you raised an eyebrow at his statement, tilting your head slightly to see Tsukishima walking over to both of you.
"We have volleyball practice today."
"Seriously? How come you guys are practicing more recently."
Suddenly a voice inserted itself into your conversation, "That's how sports work, dummy."
Turning your attention to the standing figure behind your brother, you twitch a smile, biting back the urge to spit out a comeback. "Awhh, come on Tsukki.." Your brother tried to defend you— 'very helpful' you thought.
"What? I'm only correcting her. Can't have her going around clueless, right?"
"Hah...right, thanks so much for that insightful information!" You managed to chirp out, though not without its malice in your tone. Tsukishima smirked at your response, before he could come up with another reply you excused yourself and left, waving only a small goodbye as you turned the corner.
At home, you spent your free time studying and catching up with homework or notes you missed from your previous classes, but after a while you got bored and decided to lay on your bed and read.
Couple of minutes passed and you laid your manga down on your bed to go grab something to eat or drink when you saw your phone lit up on your bedside table.
You turned off your phone with a huff, slightly annoyed and confused over the rando that just texted you. but a part of you was also slightly concerned with what Yachi said.
'Could it be a stalker?' You shivered at the thought, trying to calm yourself down before you could overthink the situation.

a/n: sorry for the awful quality chat, I'm still kinda learning how to do this thing...
"Why are you guys so early today?" You asked mid yawn, desperately trying to force your eyes to stay open.
"We have a match after school, but coach wanted us to practice before that."
You glance over at your brother not really believing his excuse, your attention drifts to Tsukishima who kept his focus on the road.
"Are you finally gonna play this time?"
Yamaguchi looked at you, offended by your words, flicking your forehead before scolding you. "Hey! Treat your brother some respect. Hinata's a bad influence on you."
You winced slightly at the pain, rubbing the spot on your forehead, "Nuh uh—" you paused, turning your head to your brother, "What do you have against them anyways? They're nice you know."
"Tch, should've known dummies stick with dummies."
You whip your head to Tsukishima who finally spoke up, his head stayed on the road but you could see a ghost smile appearing on his lips.
"What's that supposed to mean—huh!?"
"Guys, please get along—for my sake..." Yamaguchi tried to be the voice of reason, standing in between you and Tsukishima. You roll your eyes, "No thanks." was all you replied before you started quickening your pace.
"I'm going ahead."
You grabbed the laptop and ran straight to the gym. When you arrived, you could see a couple of players doing warmups, hearing some of them yell, you recognize some of their voices.
You cleared your throat, trying to catch their attention. "Hello? I have the laptop."
Shoyo's eyes landed on you from across the gym and smiled, waving his arms to you like a kid. You spot Kiyoko walking towards you, and you greeted her briefly before handing her the laptop in your hand.
"Thank you so much Yumi for coming on such short notice." she replied, bowing her head to thank you, before she turned around and walked back to the bench—leaving you there standing, unsure what to do.
Your eyes move back to the court, catching your brother on the other side warming up. You also took notice how Tsukishima was standing right beside him—seemingly having a (one-sided) conversation about something.
"Yumi—" A voice called out makign you turn your attention back, Kiyoko walked up to you, her hands clutching the laptop cloes to her chest.
"I'm sorry to ask you this, but if it's not too much of an ask, could you stay here for a bit?"
Your eyes glance at the laptop and back at her, she seemed to understand what you were trying to say, "I still have to print these files, and I need someone to help set up the match."
Her eyes drift towards the court with players, "Yachi isn't here unfortunately, but you've seen how we set up the net and other equipment right?"
You nod slowly, still trying to grasp the situation. "But If you're busy I can—"
"No go ahead, it's fine. I can stay." you voiced out, Kiyoko looked at you with a smile and nodded before excusing herself out of the gym.
You watch Kiyoko's figure turn the corner out of the gym doors and finally disappear before whipping your head around back at the gym, walking towards an empty bench to sit down.
You were still a bit shaken up with what you just did, "curse me and my people pleasing." you muttered to yourself, anxiously bouncing your leg up and down.
"Talking to yourself now?"
A familiar voice snapped you out of spiraling, as it took everything in you not to roll your eyes—knowing who it belonged to.
"Kei."
"Yumi."
You looked behind him, seeing your brother following not far behind. "Yums, are you gonna stay for our match?" Yamaguchi asked, rubbing a towel on his face to wipe off the sweat.
You hum out a response, turning your head back to the court. "I wanna see how good you guys have gotten these past months or so."
"Are you sure you aren't just skipping class?" Yamaguchi teased, raising an eyebrow at you.
"You're being influenced by Kei, Tadashi." rolling your eyes, as you turned your head away.
"I don't act like Tsukki!" Yamaguchi reasoned, his eyes glaring at you as Tsukishima quipped a brow at his statement, "What's that supposed to mean?"
You smiled to yourself as you exited the group chat, feeling like in such a good mood. You looked at the clock in your room, it was still pretty early.
The match lasted longer than you thought, and you were sort of worried you wouldn't have enough time for your homework. but you managed to finish your homework it right after dinner. Now you had another problem: boredom.
You stood up from your chair, crashing on your bed with a groan. Amidst you rolling on your bed in your room which lacked noise, an idea struck you. You should totally bother catch up with that unknown number guy.
It couldn't hurt to chat him, right?
