Bulgaria during WW1, was part of the central powers alliance during the great war before then the balkan wars pre-ww1 where it was a ally and an aggressor in the two balkan conflicts that precipitated WW1. After the great war bulgaria lost it's thrace territory and even though the country was intact it faced many problems. By the 1930s Bulgaria's head and people where wrapped around the depression at that time, waves of strike's hit the country during that time by1930-31, and in 1931 the Liapchev government was defeated in what would be the last open election with proportional representation of parliamentary seats. Up until 1935 Boris III took the leadership of the country after it's waves of problems and isolation in the Balkans.

Between World War I and World War II, Australia suffered greatly from the Great Depression, which started in 1929. This limited Australian defence expenditure and led to a decline in the size and effectiveness of the armed forces during the 1930s. In 1931, the Statute of Westminster granted the Australian government independence in foreign affairs and defence. Australia entered on 3 September 1939, following the government's acceptance of the United Kingdom's declaration of war on the Third Reich! Led by Australian Imperial Force commander, Cooper.

Starting in the spring of 1939, the British Admiralty began to view Scandinavia as a potential theater of war in a future conflict with the Third Reich. The British government was reluctant to engage in another land conflict on the continent that they believed would be a repeat of the First World War. So they began considering a blockade strategy in an attempt to weaken the Third Reich indirectly. Third Reich industry was heavily dependent on the import of iron ore from the northern Swedish mining district, and much of this ore was shipped through the northern Norwegian port of Narvik during the winter months. Control of the Norwegian coast would've also served to tighten a blockade against the Third Reich. But Norway suffered an economic collapse due to it being tied with the Germans during the 1950s. Which Norwegians are more unhappy about. But the Milorg is still a thorn in the Nasjonal Samling's side.
