July Challenge Review
Attempting to stay positive, focused, encouraged and healthy can be hard when you're facing a life crises like mine. But, I am determined NO MATTER WHAT to beat this prognosis of mine. With that said, July was a hard month. With C-Day starting my month, my sorority's convention and a few "life" situations that popped up throughout the month, staying on top of the challenge was difficult. I would fall off and then try and get back on, but it was hard! Here's a review of how I did:
No Meat: I would say I did this 60% of the month. I am mainly a pescatarian, but I did nibble on turkey bacon and turkey lunch meat from time to time. And, during my convention festivities I opted for the chicken meals vs. the vegetarian. My reasoning for eating more meat than I normally do in any given month was due to the heavy amounts of medication and narcotics that I've been on. For 1/3 of the month I don't have an appetite at all, so my doctors told me that I need to eat and at enough protein through meats in my diet.
Water Intake: Normally, I manage to get close to 100 oz. a day in, but during my convention which lasted about a week and a half for me, I feel like I barely got 32 oz. in a day. NO BUENO! I was truly starving for water. Especially being in one of the hottest and most humid locations in the states, D.C. That was rough! And, then once I got back I had to force it down. I made it up to about 64-80, but it was a push. I completed this task 40% out of the month.
Ab Challenge: I would say I completed this challenge 30% of the month. The bicycles and crunches weren't so bad, but that plank...uggghhh GRRRR...LOL! That is a hard exercise. I was able to find a way to modify it for my exercise level, but it still burned and hurt like...well, you know! LOL
A few other goals and lifestyle changes that I set for last month:
No more eating after 9 p.m. - I have to do better in August! Again, the convention threw my schedule off.
Cardio 3x week for at least :45 - The first 10 days I didn't do any cardio as it was during my c-week and was unable to. The following week I got a lot of walking in. It may not have been intense cardio 3x a week, but I did a lot of moving and a lot of walking. Once I return from my convention, I did cardio a couple of times a week.
Implement and stick to the 80/20 rule per week. 80% = good, clean eating 20% = allowed to enjoy whatever - I did a decent job at this goal, I would say it may have been 70/30 due to the first half of the month. But, when I'm at home...I eat the way I should (for the most part).
Journal food intake and fitness accomplishments & Blog at least 1 weekly update on my challenge - I didn't do either one of these the way I'd like to. I've tried different formats but nothing ever quite works for me. I've tried food logging on my phone, on my computer, on my hard calendar, in a journal...I just can't seem to be consistent. I'm definitely a work in progress with this goal.
Overall, I wish I would've done better in July, but I'm glad I did something. And, Unicorn Fit - Team Unicorn was formed last month...so that has been a HUGE help. The women keep me accountable...more than they know :). I'm determined to be better! I'm staying focused! I'm on my way to being Unicorn Fit...Team Unicorn!
