When I was in my sophomore year of college I had a cultural appreciation class and I learned 3 things:
1. Bush did 9-11 plus a bunch of other conspiracy theories with just enough evidence to make me umcomfortable
2. I was way more racist than I wanted to believe (and I'm still trying to learn how to be an antiracist)
3. People can be gay, Bek. Get over it. 🙄
This class challenged my worldview so much that I actually had to think for once and decided that maybe I should develop my own views rather than just agree with everything my dad taught me.
It went from being my most hated class to my favorite class of all time and I just WISH I could go back and take it again because I'm sure there was a lot I missed because I was too busy with my "I don't see color" white privilege and "being gay isn't natural" shit.
I just miss that class and that professor and I hope he's doing well. He's probably got that doctorate by now that he was working on...
