Hey Cas! I'm a fan of your work and I just wanted some advice. I hope that's okay! :)
I've been experiencing these strange feelings about my best friend and I just don't know what to do and it's been weighing on my mind. (redacted)
Hi!
Okay I'm going to be so real with you here- you are very much overthinking this. It sounds like you have so much guilt and you're thinking so much into the future that you're making it too hard to even process your emotions now! First of all, these feelings are okay and completely natural. You're not a creep or something for having feelings for a friend, whether or not they're returned- because it's not like you're taking weird pictures or saving her hair or something! And second, yes you nay have different plans for the future, but the only thing you can be sure about in life is change. Things change.
Try to let yourself just feel without judging yourself. Give yourself time to work through those emotions and decide what you want. Then decide what to do about it. But it's OKAY to feel this way, I promise <3

I might’ve broken my ankle but my mum can’t take me to hospital because she’s too sick to drive, what should I do?
Please take an ambulance or uber. Hope you get medical help soon!

very gently, you are sick enough to need help, and you need people to worry about you. this is a really difficult thing to deal with alone, and if it was my family member who was going through this, I would WANT to know and be worried about them. Please tell them <3

poly friend anon (new)
Hi cas
I have this friend she's like one of my best friends in the whole wide world we're in a trio (it's not like a toxic trio or anything) but she's been saying some stuff recently that makes me uncomfortable. She started dating one of our mutual friends who I'm not as close with but we're in the same small ish friend group. So she's been saying stuff about poly people that makes me upset, I'm not ploy but almost our entire friend group is queer but my friend and her boyfriend I would say are the least culturally queer (not in any negative way just like I had to explain what stonewall was to them 2 weeks ago) and they also haven't ever really been like made fun of or anything and look pretty visually straight (NOT IN A BAD WAY AT ALL). My friend has always been prone to making jokes about gay people but it's never really felt like in a negative way but recently it's felt meaner. So recently she's been just continuing to shit on poly people to me and like when I hang out with me and her bf she makes joke about them. One of my long distance besties is poly she knows this and yet she continues. I'm trying so fucking hard to not be so sensitive about it but she just won't stop at the beach we passed 3 dudes holding hands I say omg I love old gays she says ugh the fact that it's three of them ruined it, we were walking into her house I make a joke about her middle school bully's waking past us being in one big polly relationship because she felt uncomfortable as they were looking at her and then looking amongst each other and she said oh my God i hate poly people and I was like oh and she was like do you and I was like um no everyone can just do whatever the fuck they want why do you care. I just I'm mad ok because it all of nothing in my opinion you can't cherry pick your community and like especially in this political environment you should be at there side not agreeing with biggots. I think it just hurts because she says like these other semi offensive things like saying lesbian as an insult but like I'm sad because my long distance friend has delt with so much shit and I don't even talk to my friend about her anymore because I know she's judging her and I'm really sad she thinks like this
Hi!
Ugh this is so frustrating and I definitely understand why you're mad! But I think the thing to realize here is just because you're offended doesn't mean you're being sensitive! Sensitive is like...being mad that someone is wearing purple bc you don't like purple. In this case, you are rightfully offended.
I think you should sit this friend down and say that though she has a right to her opinions, she's offending you and her opinions are hurtful to people you care about, so you would like her to keep them to herself. offer to educate her on poly people if she'd like, because it sounds like she may think some things that just aren't true (maybe she's mistaking polygamy for polyamory? a common misconception). But if she's not willing to at least keep her opinion to herself, it might be a sign that she's not the person you think she is. Yes, people are allowed to not like certain things, and being poly isn't for everyone, but hate isn't welcome anywhere.
I'm sending you love, this is a tough thing to deal with, and I know it's hard to stand to your beliefs, especially when you're young. But you're not sensitive, I promise!
