The moment I try to talk about my deep dark feelings, they leave.
Just to come back later.
All of my happiest memories are plagued by anĀ unshakable sadness
āDonāt cry because itās over, smile because it happend.ā -Dr. Suess
I used to like this quote a lot, but recently it has been absolutely impossible for me to relate to it at all. I have all of these happy memories, and I mean truly happy like how-could-my-life-get-any-better type happiness, but it is impossible for me to remember them in a happy way. And I donāt just mean I get sad when I think about them because I miss those times in my life, I mean itās like I know in my head that I was happy at the time but I have become so numb and immune to positive emotions that I start to question that I actually even felt happy in these memories. Itās kind of like in Inside Out where they talk about the girlās memories being washed in sadness but thatās ok because she can grow from them. The problem is I am doing no type of growing. The worst part of all this is itās not just my memories becoming covered in sadness, itās present moments that are currently happening. Something good will happen to me or Iāll be doing something super fun and suddenly my brain will remind me that pretty soon I wonāt be doing this fun thing anymore. Or it will tell me that thereās no point being happy right now because pretty soon this happiness will be over and then youāll just be sad again so what is even the point. I know that mentality is terrible and is total bullshit but I physically canāt get rid of it.Ā
So anyway. Maybe someday Iāll be able to put this feeling into words better or maybe Iāll find someone else that beat me to that, but for now I just hope at least one person can relate to this so together we can feel not quite so alone.
Kili Cries IV
Kili was on mile three out of five on the treadmill at the gym when the feeling washed over him. āThink about happy things,ā was one of the things his therapist told him to do. Ā āHappy things, happy things,ā the only happy thing Kili had in his life was Fili. Kili thought about Filiās smile and the way he used to braid his long hair ā when it was long, before Fili cut it when he lost a drunken bet with his friends. Ā Kili didnāt talk to his brother for a week after that and Fili promised a hundred times to let it grow back. Ā But soon enough his thoughts turned to how disappointed his brother would be when he found out there had been another episode. Ā Deep breathing exercises calmed him a little but the feeling of grief was still strong. Ā Kili stopped the treadmill and wiped it down but didnāt bother going to the locker room to shower or change. Ā He just grabbed his keys and his stuff before he got in his car to drive home.
Kili Cries III
It was a normal morning, as far as mornings go. Ā The same routine he had performed a thousand mornings before; shit, shower, shave, dress, breakfast and do some scrolling through his Tumblr dashboard before heading out the door with plenty of time to get to work. Ā Everything was fine until Kili got about halfway to work. Ā Thatās when he felt the familiar heaviness settle in his chest and felt his expression slowly slipping into a frown. Ā

I'm alone and I feel like shit. I can't bring myself to talk to anyone cause I don't have any reason to be sad. I'm just sad.
My anxiety is sky rocketing tonight and I seriously can't have anyone touch/talk to me, I just want to curl up in a ball and cry my eyes out
"We'll Get Sentimental About It Later."
"Here we are then."
"What's this?"
Shaun looked at her funny. "This is the key to our house. What else would it be?"
It was her turn to give him a confused expression. "Why did you get another key?"
"Another key? This is the first set of keys I'm giving to you. I figured you'd want to be able to get inside our home." He replied.
She slapped him playfully. "Oi. No need to be cheeky about it."
"I learned from the best." Shaun earned another slap to his arm.
"I swear I already have a key home."Ā Her confused look was back.
Shaun carefully held up the silver key so that it was eye level with her face and smiled. "Well I don't believe you. You've been unpacking the entire day so I couldn't have possibly given you a key. Big day, really."
He was surprised to see her look at the key sadly. "Yes it is." She paused. "We never did talk about it..."
He crouched a bit to look at her. "Are you alright?"
Her head popped back up. "Yeah. Sorry. I must be knackered."
"Well, if you can do the honors." Shaun handed her the key.
"My pleasure." She took the key and pushed it into the lock and opened the door to their new house.
Shaun beamed. "Brilliant!"
Her face darkened once more. The silver key was gripped in her hands.
"Donna? Donna, hey."
Donna looked up, shaking the unexplainable sadness. "Sorry, again."
"Let's get you something to eat and then its off to bed."
As they walked down the hall, Donna placed theĀ small piece of metalĀ on the counter where her car keys were, containing a similar silver key engraved with patternedĀ circles.
Home.
