Wade had grabbed all of the clothes that he could fit within his army knapsack and stuffed them in there along with a few prized possessions that he had, his father's drunken screaming still echoing in the halls. He hated his dad. Hated him with everything he had.
But that didn't stop his dad's words from breaking him, and his fists from doing the same.
As it was, Wade had a bloody nose and a black eye would be forming soon. It had been quite the welcome home after being discharged from the army.
He ran down the stairs, ignoring the call of how he ran from everything coming from his father. He went out the front door and slammed it shut, heading into the city. He had nowhere to go, nobody to rely on...
He was more alone than he'd ever been.
