The splitting sound of her scream as the rusty hook pieced her shoulder did not dent the swathe of bloodlust overwhelming him, nor did the rip of muscle and flesh, and the Wraith turned his head, wild-eyed, with full intentions of darting after another lost survivor abandoned in this nightmare. But he never got the chance, for the second he moved away, she swung herself on that hook, and planted her foot directly into the concave center of his chest.
That certainly got his attention.
He stumbled several steps back, stunned, and for several long seconds just... stood there, looking at her with those unblinking white eyes. Then, with a perplexed gruff of breath, extended his arms, for it was the only way he could express the singular word that came to mind in response.
This one, it seemed, still had some fight in her.
Good. He hoped the Entity never took that away.
