Igneaus sat in his small hut, which hid deep in the swamps of Hjaalmarch just west of Ustengrav Ruins. The home was a simple thing, comprised of just one room and made from timber that had stood for a long time, and barely held together. With one shuttered window and a door, even most of the peasantry would not call such a building worth living in. But it suited the old alchemist just fine. Lichens, canis roots, nightshades and deathbells aplenty flourished in the swamp around the manâs home, due to the fertility and due to Morodrinâs care for them.
A small fireplace sat in the centre of the room, crackling softly, making shadows dance. Yet the lighting was cold, and not due to the its proximity to the frigid Sea of Ghosts or the mountain ranges to the east. Over the fireplace hung a small cauldron, in which was brewing an odd smelling liquid, either potion or simply a stew, and Igneaus occasionally stirred it and tossed in small swamp fungal pods and various herbs.
As the night began to encroach on the area, and the mists started to settle, Igneaus piled more kindling on the dwindling flame, which it hungrily devoured. The radiance of the fire seeped through the gaps in the structure of his home, eerily lighting the twisted trees and wiry bushes that surrounded his home.
