Long time no post!
I thought it would be fun to share a little bit about my revision process. This particular paper took way more rounds of edits than usual (my outline was crappy, so I was kind of working it out as I went along), but you can see clearly that the number of revisions goes down each time. By the last round, mostly I’m just doing grammar/clarity changes and a little more work on the conclusion. This one had so much revising that by the end, almost all the content from the original draft was replaced. It’s all part of the process!
I use a different color for each round of edits to help keep it interesting and reset my brain a little. I try to wait at least a few hours (though preferably 1-2 days) after writing a first draft to start editing. I always have to print out my essays to revise them! Not the best for the planet, I know :( After the final round of edits on this one, I went in on the computer and added footnotes and did a last check before submitting it.
