Eyebrows crease as Naito’s words click, an arm extended to the Golden Star. Kota’s frozen in place. Not just because he’s freezing, teeth chattering and shoulders hunched in to save the warmth, but because Naito’s talking to him. Naito’s offering HELP. Naito’s INVITING HIM IN. Kota’s longed for this since Naito had came back from his second excursion; closed off and cruel. Regarding anyone not in his family with cold, emotionless eyes. Kota’s missed HIS Naito, so full of life, love, and passion. This one he’s learned to care for – HE’LL ALWAYS CARE FOR T.ETSUYA NAITO – but the feeling wasn’t mutual, and the rejection STUNG. Or so he’d thought. Maybe this was a development. Maybe they’re turning a new leaf. Or, maybe, Naito’s toying with him. Maybe with Takahashi not around, he’s just lonely… But he’s not the only one who’s lonely, now, is he?

Brown hues hold confusion as they flicker over Naito’s face, trying to read him. Kota doesn’t know how anymore – maybe he never did – but he still tries. Hopelessly tries. Adam’s apple moves with a rough gulp, chilled fingers pressing into his palm. If this is a game, it’s DUMB even for Naito. It’s why he moves forward, hesitant feet carrying him forth, until he’s slipping underneath the opened arm. Kota slips a hand underneath his jacket, curling against broad chest. A content groan passes through cracked lips as Kota MELTS into him, forehead pressed into the crook of his neck. Warm and SOFT. Kota never wants to LEAVE.

Slowly, he kneels in front of Naito. They've been friends for many years, but every interaction between them felt STRESSED. Every interaction between them involved brutal neck bumps and unforgiving punches since... since before Naito's second excursion. Back when they were truly friends. They're not anymore. He doesn't know why, not really. Naito can continue his destiny with Kota in his life. He'd never sabotage Naito. He'd never stand in Naito's way. He's always believed in Naito and wanted to see him suceed. But that doesn't seem to matter anymore. ESPECIALLY now that Kota's just removed him from the Cup. Now that Kota's prevented him from achieving his newest dream at Madison Square G.arden.

It's why he moves tentatively now. He doesn't DARE touch, though fingers twitch with the desire to. Concern clouds his eyes and weakens his stance. His own knee damaged, body screaming with pain, he could only imagine how much worse Naito is. It's why he snuck into the LIJ locker room to check up on him, against his better judgement. ❝ I'm sorry. ❞ It's not what he meant to say. He wanted to ask if Naito was alright, no matter how useless it was to ask. He cringes once his own voice, harsh and too quiet amongst the SILENCE, hits his ears.

He GULPS, brown hues slowly moving up to meet Naito's eyes; sorry, hopeful, sad. So, so sorry. He never wanted to HURT his friend.
