Cuba thwarted the attempts of a network of Cubans living in the United States who were trying to enter the island illegally with weapons, with the purpose of starting a social outbreak. This week the Ministry of the Interior (Minint) disclosed details of a recruitment plan, neutralized in December 2023, directed from U.S. territory, to promote and organize terrorist actions in Cuba.

The communiqué emphasized that to raise awareness they will link “the impacts of the blockade with tangible costs, both material and physical, here in the United States; our goal is to make our message resonate with ordinary people, galvanizing broader support,” it stressed.

Before departing for Cuba, our delegation began learning about Cuba’s revolutionary new Families Code. But it was incredible to be among these activists — to hear about their work, life experiences, and analysis of the ongoing revolutionary process in Cuba. These activists vividly conveyed how far Cuba has come, rising from a legacy of colonialism and patriarchal values, even while impeded by Washington’s criminal blockade.

Over time, the hoax faded for lack of scientific evidence – there was no way to explain how a sound attacks some individuals and not others in the same room – but now we learn that the U.S. government has been experimenting with high-power microwave (HPM) systems to stop vehicles or ships by jamming their electronic systems.

The New York City Council unanimously approved a resolution on June 22 calling for an end to the cruel U.S. economic blockade of Cuba. The next day a news conference was held in front of City Hall to celebrate this victory. “This blockade must stop,” declared Council member Charles Barron, who was the resolution’s prime sponsor.

Why did it take so long? The failure of the U.S. to normalize relations with the Republic of Cuba has forced even urgent health initiatives like this one to thread its way through an insidious web of laws, regulations, and executive orders that only apply to Cuba.

Havana, August 31– A shipment of 800 tons of wheat flour — collected by solidarity activists in the U.S. — has arrived in Cuba.  The donation will provide bread for millions of people in the provinces of Pinar del Rio, Artemisa, Mayabeque, Matanzas and Havana.This campaign was organized in the United States by the New York City-based “Let Cuba Live: Bread for Our Neighbors” campaign.
