Ummada Chithra - The story of a hidden Beauty
The only daughter of Kind Panduwasdeva in Sri Lanka was the most beautiful woman in the land at that time. Because she was foretold to give birth to a son who would kill all of his uncles, the king was left with no choice but to hide her away on a tower, away from all the men. However, out there was a man lucky enough to start an affair with her in spite of all the security measures taken.
Diga Gamini, a prince from a neighbouring province was eager to see the princess who was said to be of immense beauty, that he disguised himself as a soldier and patrolled near her tower, finally getting a glimpse of her. As their eyes met, Princess Ummada Chithra and Diga Gamini fell in love.
Their child would, as foretold, would defeat all his uncles and gain the throne, becoming the supreme ruler of Sri Lanka.
