Umbrellakind covers the usage of umbrellas of all kinds as weapons. From the household umbrella kept handy in case of rain, to the Barber’s Best Friend most would Alchemize from their Guardian’s razor, to the legendary umbrellas capable of deflecting bullets and slicing through steel, all these fall under the Umbrellakind Abstratus.
While Umbrellakind is mostly an Esoteric Strife Specibus due to its typically harmless nature, it also counts as a Protective Specibus as well. This means it could grant an additional bonus to Defence. Of course, this depends on the specific weapons themselves. Due to this, uses of Umbrellakind can be divided into two categories; the first is offence, and this focuses of dealing Damage while granting little in terms of Defence. The second, defence, grants a greater bonus towards Defence but deals lesser Damage.
Umbrellakind mostly uses Magrit as its Attribute, with a few notable exceptions. Their Damage range errs on the lower side of the spectrum, and their Range tend towards extremes, either Melee or Long. Their Defence makes up for their lack of Damage, as it tends to be greater than most other weapons. Even if they are of the Offensive Type.
Offence: As stated above, these umbrellas deal greater Damage while throwing their, still above average, Defense to the wayside. These umbrellas range from those mounted with blades, to those that double as guns or magical foci.
Defence: As stated above, these umbrellas focus on their Defence and keep their Damage low. Most deal Low Damage, while some could even drop down to Miniscule or None. Meanwhile their Defence is bolstered by both naturally high scores, and a tendency to the more defence Features. These umbrellas range from those that are made entirely of metal, to those that could project force-fields.
“One of the many umbrella’s your Guardian has purchased in case of an outing during particularly moist weather conditions. Its pall works quite well against water, and most forms of liquid, but are quite fragile against sharp objects.”
