A allosexual who has feelings for an asexual
Hi there! So I have a friend who has talked to me openly about how she is asexual panromantic. We have gotten very close. We spend a pot of time together. She holds my hand, she grabs my thigh, rests her hand there and cuddles with me a lot. We go to the movies with friends and she sits by me and holds my hand. In the car, while Im driving she always grabs my hand to hold. I am starting to get feelings for her, does she like me too? Or do you think she thinks of me as a squish or just a friend that she is really close to? Thank you.
So… this isn’t an asexual-specific sort of question, really, this is a “Do you think [she] likes me?” question. And the answer to that kind of question is usually “I don’t know, ask [her]”. This is something that just varies so much from person to person, because everybody is different; some people are really affectionate with friends, others less so, and people have different ideas of what is platonic behavior and what is romantic behavior, etc. I can’t even hazard a guess about her feelings because I don’t even know her. And I can’t just answer questions about how other asexual people feel or how they express romantic interest or whatever. It’s just… Individual experiences and expressions. Everybody is different. I mean, I guess a good indication might be whether she acts this way with other friends or only with you. But even then, the only way you can be absolutely sure is by asking. ~ Nash
