Kokichi as a father headcanons:
--Like, seriously, he’s still got the mannerisms of a child, how could he be a father
--In fact, he became even MORE playful and chatty and downright nervous from the anxiety of discovering that his s/o is pregnant with their child
--He’s so scared that he doesn’t really know what to do. Except lie. Yeah, lying always works.
--When his daughter Chiemi is born, he can’t help but to “demand” to hold her, the heiress of D.I.C.E., in his arms, but his s/o and company believe that he’s just anxious as a father and wants to protect his baby girl
--Oh yeah, and he just loooooooves to play peekaboo with her, and she loves it too! She gets such a thrill from seeing all of his silly faces, and he makes her laugh so much that she often gets the hiccups. Oops.
--Sometimes when he’s holding her and knows that they’re alone, he’s a lot calmer and often stares at her face, taking in every detail of a face that he helped to create.
--Holy shit. This was his child--another human being of his flesh and blood. Wow.
--He still can’t quite comprehend it, and he worries that he’ll never be a good father since he hasn’t quite grown up himself.
--Whenever she cries, he makes it his personal mission to do whatever he can to chase those tears away because he wants her to always be happy and playful and young at heart. So he often makes funny faces to cheer her up, and it works! Within minutes, she’s giggling and squealing with delight, the tears long forgotten.
--When she’s just a toddler, he spends quite a lot of time around her, always insisting to be by her side when company is over, and proud to introduce her to fellow D.I.C.E. members, pointing out that she’ll be their new “leader” someday. (this lowkey has the D.I.C.E. members sad because they don’t want to see their beloved leader Kokichi go)
--Naturally, the D.I.C.E. members become charmed by Chiemi and compete with each other to entertain her and keep her happy. They also noticed that she doesn’t pick favorites (except her daddy)--she more or less spends the same amount of time with and likes each of them equally.
--But her Daddy comes first, and that’s that.
--In fact, once when she was three years old, Kokichi decided to try something out with her: a little Chinese test to see what she would value most in her life. He was bored at the time and reasoned it would be interesting to see what she does. So, he sets her on the floor a few feet away from him and sets down a yen bill, a toy, and a pen on the floor between them then waits. She takes a moment to look at the objects placed in front of her then toddles forward. In this moment, Kokichi watches her carefully and holds his breath, but even he couldn’t predict what would come next; instead of choosing one of the objects, Chiemi pushes those objects out of the way and toddles forward to Kokichi, hugging him and giggling, “Daddy!”
--This has Kokichi emotionally frazzled. He tries to keep a stoic face for a few seconds, but he can’t help it and his countenance breaks down as a few genuine tears escape his eyes. Of course, Chiemi is too young to remember this, but Kokichi will never forget that moment.
--Flash forward a few years, and Chiemi is now a seven-year-old who loves to play dress up and build things with legos. One time, Kokichi let her play with several bins of legos while he was discussing something with D.I.C.E. He leaves her be for what he thought was a few minutes, occasionally checking up on her and her progress on creating a large fence with lego blocks, but when he comes back to play with her, he’s a little shocked at what he sees--she took every last lego block in each bin and created a mini colorful fortress! She waited for him at the top, looking over the wall and giggling at his surprised face. When he tries to enter, she declares, “You can’t come in, daddy! What’s the password?” Baffled, Kokichi recomposes himself with ease and says the first thing that comes to mind, “Pumpkin,” which was one of his many nicknames for her. She grants him entry and the two have a nice exclusive tea party on a lego brick table that she also constructed by herself. And he wonders how she could have done all of that in a short time he wasn’t watching her. Could she be developing an ultimate-level talent...?
--Nicknames! Holy shit, Kokichi’s got a whole book of them. Well, not literally, but he sure loves to use nicknames for his daughter. Things like “Pumpkin” (his favorite), “Bumblebee,” “Sugar Plum,” and whatever other cutesy name that you can think of. He especially tries to use them whenever he suspects that she may be fussy or angry with him, oops.
--Speaking of being fussy, sometimes Chiemi does get frustrated with things, like false promises her daddy made to her. It hurts a lot, you know, to be lied to by someone you trust the most. And Kokichi, in times where Chiemi would pout, would look so downtrodden (a look he wears so well), and say, “Oh no, Pumpkin’s mad at me...” and pout himself until he melts Chiemi’s resolve and her frustrations dissipate as she apologizes to him.
--When Chiemi is a teenager, Kokichi has a new fear: boys. Specifically, boys dating his pumpkin. While it turns out that Chiemi has a stronger preference for girls *coughRantaro’sdaughterTarucough*, he still can’t stop fearing that someone was gonna take her away. And maybe even hurt her...
--So, he comes up with lies, and plots to ruin any chance a boy could hurt his sweet sugar plum whenever she brings her current boyfriend home to meet him.
--Oh boy, this doesn’t go over well. At all.
--Kokichi succeeds in scaring those boys away, but Chiemi is growing ever more frustrated and desperately trying to hold onto her current boyfriend by claiming that her daddy “is a kidder!” But it doesn’t work. They’re all too afraid, and Kokichi is proud of his work to keep his baby girl safe.
--But then Chiemi grows angry again, and it’s gonna take more than watery puppy dog eyes and a downtrodden whiney voice to get Kokichi out of this one. A lot more.
--Deep down, Chiemi knows that he’s just protective of her. He lets her have fun with her friends, but if anyone hurts her or crosses her or breaks her hurt, he’ll see them SCREAMING
--Oh and dad jokes. He’s got dad jokes. For days. For weeks, for months, for years. He’s got encylopedia’s filled with dad jokes. He loves dad jokes to death. Holy shit, RIP Chiemi
--Over time, Kokichi notices that she develops a peculiar kind of talent; she is recruited by Hope’s Peak Academy as the Ultimate Copycat as noted by her innate ability to flawlessly imitate a target’s every move, behavior, voice, personality, pattern of thinking, even their essence of being with a single glance or listen (think Ultimate Analyst/Fashionista meets Ultimate Cosplayer). But Kokichi can’t help but think that there’s something more there...a hidden talent that she’s been keeping secret from everyone, even him, and he’s determined to find out what it is.
--And she grows up to be two inches taller than him (5′3″ vs. 5′1″). He’s lowkey salty about that
